Danny Cipriani happy at Sale

Danny Cipriani has been through ups and downs in his career, but now that the English fly-half is entering his third season with Sale Sharks, the 26-year-old is happy to stay at the Manchester based club.

Cipriani spoke to BBC Sport about the opportunity that Sale have given him, and now since returning to the Aviva Premiership the fly-half has excelled under current head coach Brian Redpath.

The former Wasps fly-half is in his final season of his three-year contract, and spoke to BBC his ambitions to stay on, but also to see the club progress and become a better team.

"That is still the case. I would be happy to stay," Cipriani stated.

"I still feel like it would be nice to get three more big players into the team, just when you look at the squads that are available for the teams above us and the rotation they can do, but we're building towards that."

Since joining Sale Cipriani has made 34 caps in the Aviva Premiership and has recorded 245 points, but hasn't won any silverware with the Manchester club yet considering the great progress he has made.

Wasps and Injuries

But it hasn't always been positive news for Cipriani, as during his time at Wasps the 26-year-old dislocated his ankle ruling him out of a promising autumn tour against New Zealand.

This injury was one of the few sustained whilst playing for the club based in Wycombe sustaining his progress on becoming a first pick for England as the likes of Toby Flood, Charlie Hodgson and Andy Goode were placed ahead of the youngster.

However Wasps is where Cipriani burst onto the scene spending six years at the club and recording over 450 points in 63 caps.

After two years in Australia playing for Melbourne Rebels, Cipriani's England career became quiet resulting in a return to the Aviva Premiership and new hope for a return in Stuart Lancaster's team.

Cipriani's recent form has put him back in the fray

Cipriani brought up his recent call-up to England, claiming that it was a great feeling playing against the All Blacks and hopes it was the first of many.

"It was a dream come true," said Cipriani.

"It had been a while since I'd played for England and to be involved in that environment, especially with the way Stuart Lancaster has it set up, it was the best England environment I've been in."

Considering England have some talented prospects in the fly-half position, Cipriani could earn a spot for the 2015 World Cup due to his tenacity and talents he displays for Sale.

The test against the All Blacks was a great moment to the 26-year-old to move forward with the current England set-up considering he's only featured eight times for his nation.

Owen Farrell and Danny Cipriani lining up for England next year could make Lancaster's team strong in numbers, with some key qualities on disposal which could help the hosts progress in the 2015 World Cup.

Sale will need to utilise the talents of Cipriani for a third season as there is nothing stopping Redpath giving Cipriani an extended contract, as next season could play a huge part in how Cipriani's career progresses.
