Manchester United agree Evra plus £32m deal for Vidal

United closing in on Vidal.

Manchester United have agreed a deal with Juventus to sign central-midfielder Arturo Vidal, according to The Daily Star.

Citing reports in Chile, it appears that the Red Devils have offered £32 million and Frenchman Patrice Evra for the player's services, as new United boss Louis van Gaal looks set to make his third signing of the summer.

Coup

The potential signing of Vidal will prove a major coup for the new Red Devils boss, with his side set to embark upon another new era. It's not surprising that a number of clubs have been linked with the player's services in recent time, including Real Madrid, Chelsea and Arsenal. Vidal has been one of the leading midfielders in Europe in recent time, and United are desperate for additions in the middle of the park.

The likes of Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher, Marouane Fellaini and Co. all struggled in the middle of the park last term, so it's no surprise that the new boss has identified the area as a priority for improvement.

Herrera

If Vidal is signed by the new Red Devils chief, then he may well slot in next to United's new Spanish recruit Ander Herrera. The 24-year-old represented Van Gaal's first major signing at Old Trafford, whilst Luke Shaw was the second played signed by the new regime.

The Red Devils certainly appear to be in the driving seat in the move for Vidal, and he will certainly be a key man under Van Gaal at the Theatre of Dreams in the 2014/15 season.

Evra

With Vidal incoming, it appears that full-back Patrice Evra is heading out of United. The Frenchman has enjoyed a fine stint at the club, having won numerous Premier League titles and the Champions League, but he now looks set for a challenge in the Serie A.
