Rumours about a potential transfer for Vidal have been ongoing (©GettyImages). There are plenty of stipulations to worry about when it comes to the feasibility of Arturo Vidal’s possible move to Manchester United, and on the back of the widespread speculation it would appear even Louis van Gaal’s been caught up in the hype.

The new Red Devils boss is said to be desperate to force through a transfer for the Chilean international quickly, as he fears a deal being hijacked by rival clubs. Despite Juventus’ continued insistence that their star man will not be leaving Turin this summer quotes from the player’s agent have inferred otherwise, and Van Gaal is said to see the midfielder, who has a valuation of €50million, as available.
It’s also been claimed that the 27-year-old has already undergone a medical in anticipation over an Old Trafford move, but that would matter very little were another top club to make a move for his signature at the eleventh hour.
Such hijackings have taken place in the past - including last season when Jose Mourinho stole Brazilian winger Willian from Tottenham - and so Van Gaal’s trepidation is somewhat reinforced. The Dutchman has a hard enough task on his hands as it is, without increasing the amount of pressure on himself and Ed Woodward by losing out in the race for a major target.
After all the speculation, and subsequent to and fro, regarding Vidal's future one would assume that Red Devils fans will be understandably gutted if the World Cup ace doesn't end up at Old Trafford, with many having got used to the idea that he would be partnering Ander Herrera in the midfield next season.
Of course if that is the case then other options will have to be assessed, and Van Gaal could well take a stronger look at Kevin Strootman, who is currently out injured. The Dutch midfielder missed the World Cup having sustained a knee complaint in March, but his former national team manager maintains an interest in luring him to the Premier League. Roma boss Rudi Garcia has already made it clear he doesn't want to sell his prized assets, but Strootman could make the switch feasible should he demand an exit.
Evra's captaincy claim
Elsewhere Patrice Evra has made the incredible claim that he was chosen as the successor to Nemanja Vidic as United captain. The French defender was sold to Juventus last month, but has revealed today that Van Gaal wanted him to stay on and offer his experience moving forward.
