MS Dhoni’s no-look run out of Ross Taylor is pure genius

MS Dhoni showed why he is irreplaceable as a wicket keeper for India when he ran out Ross Taylor during India’s fourth ODI against New Zealand at Ranchi on Wednesday. Collecting the ball from Dhawal Kulkarni, India’s ODI skipper pulled off a blinder when he received the ball and threw it at the stumps in one swift action. All this happened with Dhoni’s back to the woodwork.

It was the 45th over and New Zealand were 222/5 with Ross Taylor batting at 35 with Anton Devcich at the other end. Umesh Yadav bowled the third ball of the over which Taylor pushed away. While the first run was taken comfortably, New Zealand saw the chance for a second and Taylor made a run for it. Kulkarni’s throw to Dhoni was not a very good one and he had to move towards the ball to pick it up. He then threw it back to the stumps without even looking back.

This is not the first time that Dhoni has done this. Since becoming the captain of the team, Dhoni has been lauded for his agility behind the wickets. Taylor had a smile on his face as he walked back to the dressing room. While an image of him gawking at Dhoni’s Hummer went viral earlier, this time, Ross Taylor was left befuddled once again.

New Zealand looked set for a big total when they were 138/2 after nearly a century run opening partnership. India came back well to restrict them to 260/7 at the end of the 50 overs.
