Craig Kieswetter misses out through injury (©GettyImages). Somerset's T20 Blast campaign continues on Wednesday night with a trip to the Oval, where they will face a strong Surrey side, in an exciting match-up with both teams looking to cement quarter-final berths.
Having won their last two games, against Hampshire and Gloucestershire, Somerset's camp will be full of confidence, despite missing Craig Kieswetter (fractured cheekbone) and Johann Myburgh (broken finger) through injury and Alviro Petersen, who is on international duty.
The visitors are in the middle of some unforeseen fixture congestion; after hosting Gloucestershire on Friday night, the Taunton side went straight into a four-day game at Northampton on Saturday, which only concluded on Tuesday.
The workloads of bowlers will be an issue, which could see one of the frontline Championship seamers Lewis Gregory, Alfonso Thomas or Craig Overton miss out.
The visitors will field Alex Barrow as their wicket-keeper due to Kieswetter, the competition's second leading run-scorer behind Surrey's Jason Roy, fracturing his cheekbone in the win at Northampton after a David Willey bouncer hit his face.
Somerset have included Marcus Trescothick in their 14-man squad, but he is not expected to feature again in t20 this season, having handed over the shortest-form captaincy to Alfonso Thomas.
Surrey are without young seamer Tom Curran, who is out for the rest of the season with ligament damage, which may lead to an opportunity for fellow youngster Matt Dunn.
Tillakaratne Dilshan has returned from international duty with Sri Lanka, and Kevin Pietersen is included in the squad despite his Caribbean Premier League commitments.
After an excellent start to the season, Surrey have been slipping away in recent weeks, with defeats to Essex and Glamorgan in their last two games, and need to win here to secure their quarter-final spot; a win would take the Oval side second, whilst Somerset would reach third with a victory.
