Anything Arsenal can do Manchester United can do better, at least that’s if you believe Metro this morning who claim that the Red Devils have agreed a one hundred and fifty thousand pound a week deal with Real Madrid star Angel di Maria.
Di Maria agreed
The London based publication, citing Spanish paper Marca, claims that the Argentinian superstar has said yes to moving to Old Trafford, with the finalisation of a fee now being the only thing standing in the way of the transfer’s completion.
It now remains to be seen whether or not Louis van Gaal will pay the £40million Madrid are holding out for, but the Dutchman will need to decide quickly as there are also offers on the table from Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco and two unnamed Italian sides.
The Argentina international has become an important part of the Madrid set up over the course of the last year, despite the fact that he was tipped to struggle for game-time following the arrival of Gareth Bale. His performances in this summer's World Cup have also been fairly eye-catching, and it's expected that he'll play a major role in the final against Germany on Sunday.
As such it will come as a surprise to most people that he's being flogged by Carlo Ancelotti, though Los Blancos have made it clear that they plan to balance their books before they make big moves for James Rodriguez and Radamel Falcao.
Pogba and Vidal
Elsewhere there’s interesting updates to the pursuits of both Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal, whose futures seem to be somewhat entwined moving forward.
With the duo having a combined value of around £100million it makes sense that their club are willing to offload one in order to make money with which to do their own business, but it does mean that United risk losing the chance to sign Vidal if Chelsea can land Pogba in the coming weeks. Van Gaal is a known admirer of the Chilean, and may see him as the ideal partner to Ander Herrera in his new look United midfield.
We’ll have more as it develops.
