South Africa's Dale Steyn and AB de Villiers top the ICC rankings (©GettyImages). The newly crowned World number one Test side South Africa have been given another lift as their players dominate the new ICC Test rankings in both batting and bowling.
Batsman AB de Villiers and fast bowler Dale Steyn remain unmoved and are still ranked as the World's best players in their respective disciplines. Their team-mate, all-rounder Vernon Philander, is also ranked as the best all-rounder in Tests, as well as the fourth best bowler. New South African captain Hashim Amla continues the Proteas dominance as he climbs two places to number three in the batting rankings.
Sri Lankan winners
The biggest winners from the new rankings are Sri Lanka after their historic series victory in England and a tough 1-0 home defeat to South Africa. Kumar Sangakkara remains the second best batsmen in the World whilst captain Angelo Matthews is ranked sixth, after moving up four batting places, and spinner Angelo Herath has moved up seven places to number eight in the bowling rankings.
Australian cricketers are suffering in the rankings due to a lack of cricket recently. However, they can still boast a trio of fast bowlers in the top ten, Ryan Harris, Mitchell Johnson and Peter Siddle, with David Warner and Michael Clarke in the top ten batsmen despite falling one place each.
England's stars
Meanwhile, despite England's poor form over the last year, they have been given a boost with Gary Ballance, Moeen Ali and Alastair Cook gaining in the rankings after the performance in the third Test against India at Southampton. Alastair Cook's upturn in form has moved him up seven places to 22nd in the World whilst Gary Ballance has moved up sixteen places to 31st after a fantastic summer so far.
The biggest mover in the rankings has come from England's Moeen Ali who has moved 34 places to number 38 in the bowling rankings after a match-winning performance at the Ageas Bowl. Ian Bell has also benefited by re-entering the top 20, at number 19, after his century in the first innings.
There is no change in the all-rounders top five but South African Vernon Philander is only a point above Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hassan.
