England all-rounder Moeen Ali was not concerned with sections of a packed Edgbaston crowd who appeared to single out the proud Englishman for boos during the enthralling three run victory over India in the final match of the international summer.

Edgbaston jeers
The former Warwickshire man was jeered when he walked out to bat in the T20 and appeared to receive the same treatment every time he touched the ball in the field but he responded by taking a crucial wicket in Birmingham.
Moeen has enjoyed a rapid rise in recent months, becoming a household name after only making his debut in the West Indies earlier this year. The 27-year-old won the PCA Player of the Year in 2013 which saw him selected for the limited overs side before making his Test debut against Sri Lanka in June and has been a shining light in a difficult period for the national side.
However, after a fabulous debut summer in the whites of England, Moeen had to wait for his chance in the recent ODI series against India before taking his chance at Edgbaston last Tuesday with a fine 67 in a losing cause. He then went on to take two wickets at Headingley as England won by 41 runs and he was pleased with how the side ended their hectic summer.

“To come in at the Edgbaston ODI and to beat India at Headingley and then again in the T20 is a fantastic achievement so we are very pleased with the way we finished the season although we are disappointed we lost the ODI series but it was a nice finish," he told GiveMeSport.
“When you can bat and bowl quite well it does give you two chances so if you don’t score many you can have another go with the ball or if you don’t take any wickets then you can try and score some runs. It’s always nice to stay in the game and to try and contribute to the team.”
However, in some sections of the media the crowd’s reaction to Moeen overshadowed a wonderful performance in the shortest format of the game but the level headed Worcestershire man didn’t appear to be bothered by the supporter’s dislike of him.
“It felt like an away game at Edgbaston yesterday but it’s all good. As long as we win it doesn’t really matter what the crowd are like.
"It was a good atmosphere and the place was buzzing so as long as the fans enjoyed themselves as much as we did that’s important.
“I don’t really have any views on the booing, as long as they enjoyed themselves it’s alright.”
Return to New Road
Moeen has already returned the tranquil surroundings of New Road in Worcester ahead of their penultimate County Championship Division Two game of the season knowing all they need is a draw to be promoted back into the top tier.
They face third place Surrey who are the only side who could possibly catch them in the unlikeliest of scenarios. The four-day encounter starts at 10.30am tomorrow and is sure to slot back into his number three position in the batting line-up and he can’t wait to help the Pears out once again.
“I’m really looking forward to this week back at Worcester and the boys prepared really well today so we are ready for a big week and hopefully we can come out of it with a good result which would mean we are promoted.
“We’ve been up and down quite a lot over the last seven or eight years so hopefully if we go up this time we can build on our squad and then next year we can aim to stay up and consolidate in Div One.”
