Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was suspended by Borussia Dortmund because he was caught on his phone during a team meeting, according to reports in Germany.
The Gabon international, who was wanted by Manchester City and Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, was surprisingly omitted from Dortmund’s matchday squad for Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Sporting in the Champions League.
Aubameyang, who was scored 10 goals in 13 games for Dortmund this season, was pictured watched his team-mates in the stands at Signal Iduna Park.
And Bild claim that Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel took the decision to temporarily suspend the striker for using his phone during a pre-match meeting ahead of the game.
So far, Dortmund __have only confirmed that the 27-year-old was suspended for ‘internal reasons’.
‘The internal reasons are exactly that, internal,’ Dortmund’s CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke told ZDF.
‘I will not say anything.
‘But the good thing is he will be fresh against Hamburg. He will be back in the squad against Hamburg.’
