Liverpool moved back into the top four after beating Tottenham 2-0 at Anfield courtesy of a quickfire first half brace from Sadio Mane.

The Reds ended their torrid recent run of five games without a win in the Premier League with a convincing victory in which Spurs never really got going.

This is why Tottenham NEED to finish above Arsenal, says ex-Spurs star

Much of Liverpool’s recent trouble has been down to Mane’s absence through Africa Cup of Nations duty, but the Senegalese forward was in blistering form to punish Tottenham tonight.

The first goal came from a superb through-ball from Georginio Wijnaldum, who released Mane through the middle, leaving the opposition defenders with no chance of catching him as he raced through on goal to finish with aplomb.

Two minutes later and Mane doubled Liverpool’s lead and his own personal tally, this time thumping home from close range after poor Tottenham defending.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side barely threatened a comeback in the second half, with Philippe Coutinho coming the closest to adding a third as the game largely fizzled out.

Not that Liverpool will care, with Klopp’s men putting in a clinical and professional display to get their season back on track.
