David Haye hopeful Tyson Fury will return to heavyweight boxing

David Haye has revealed he would still love to fight Tyson Fury, but insisted his fellow British boxer has far greater issues to deal with than organising a fight with him.

Fury has not fought since he became the unified heavyweight champion in November 2015 after becoming overwhelmed by mental health issues.

The Brit’s trainer, Peter Fury, recently said he hopes his fighter will return to the ring this year with Haye having twice pulled out of scheduled bouts between the pair.

And although Haye was reluctant to be drawn into speculation a fight may finally happen, he was clear he would be interested in the bout.

‘I genuinely __have no idea [whether Fury or his team would be willing to negotiate].

‘The last thing I need to be worried about is him. He’s got enough issues going on,’ Haye told World Boxing News.

‘I’m not sure in reality if he’s even licensed to fight. If he does get a licence, it would be something to talk about, for sure.

‘But at the moment, it’s not really worth paying it too much mind.

‘He’s got enough issues outside of the ring to contend with.’

Regardless of whether he ever gets the chance to face off against Fury, Haye says he hopes his fellow heavyweight returns to boxing.

‘I hope he does [return]. I think heavyweight boxing is more fun with him in it than not in it,’ he said.

But during Verratti’s impressive display against the Spanish champions last Tuesday, Matuidi has revealed the details of a conversation he had on the pitch with Iniesta about his PSG team-mate.

‘At 2-0, we saw the faces of the Barcelona players and they seemed very angry with themselves,’ Matuidi told France Bleu radio.

Sutton United boss Paul Doswell has hit out at his substitute goalkeeper Wayne Shaw for eating a pie on the bench during the FA Cup defeat to Arsenal.

Shaw, who is also known as the ‘roly-poly goalie’, was spotted tucking into the snack in the closing stages of Sutton’s 2-0 defeat to the Gunners.

Before the match, odds of 8/1 were given for goalkeeper to eat a pie during the match, prompting accusations that the event was a publicity stunt.

And after the defeat, Doswell criticised his goalkeeper for the incident.

‘I don’t think it shows us in the best light,’ he said.

Arsene Wenger has hit back after being accused of needlessly risking Alexis Sanchez in Arsenal’s victory over Sutton United in the FA Cup.

Wenger opted to bring the Chilean on as a second-half substitute with just 16 minutes remaining, despite the Gunners having a two-goal lead through Lucas Perez and Theo Walcott.

Before the match, Danny Welbeck had already pulled out of the game due to the plastic surface, but Wenger insists Sanchez was able to cope with the demands of the pitch.

‘He is a guy who has a strong body,’ said Wenger.

The F1 Show: Toto Wolff, Ross Brawn and Claire Williams join the panel

Retro cars, dreaded phone calls and a licence to entertain? The new Formula 1 season must be fast approaching.

The BBC Radio 5 live F1 Show on Thursday welcomed Mercedes boss Toto Wolff, Williams deputy team principal Claire Williams and F1 managing director of racing Ross Brawn to talk all things racing.

They discussed tactics, changes and life without deposed boss Bernie Ecclestone, as well as tackling your questions.

  • Listen: BBC Radio 5 live F1 Show
  • Listen: 'Williams made me beg for Bottas'

'It's a little bit retro, a little bit 80s'

First up was Mercedes boss Toto Wolff. We asked you to send in your questions using #AskToto, and here's what he had to say...

Paul Frewer: Who do the Mercedes drivers fear more if they've done wrong, Toto or Niki [Lauda, non-executive chairman]?

"You need to ask them, but I think we are both pretty sensible guys."

Dave Cox: Are the cars really going to be two to three seconds quicker per lap?

"I think they are going to be faster because there is simply much more downforce; they are wider.

"They look quite cool. I am not such a big fan of the swept rear wing, but the car looks spectacular from the front and rear and, when you add those fat tyres, it is a little bit retro, a little bit 80s - lots of technical detail on the bodywork, which is fascinating.

"How they look is definitely better, but how they will drive and how much faster they will be, we don't know because we haven't seen the tyres perform yet."

Rob Watts: If your budget was slashed, would you rather invest in a world-class engineering team or a world-class driver?

"I would invest in a world-class engineering team, because the best drivers make a difference of a few tenths but world-class engineers can make more."

Peter Harrison: Will you ensure that both Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas give us a good, but fair, title battle this season?

"Regulations __have changed and it is all points back to zero. I hope we __have a car good enough to get race wins and the championship, but we will continue to give them equal opportunity."

Adam Barton: How do you keep the team motivated to progress despite three years of dominance?

"We spend a lot of time redefining our objectives. The regulation change has helped us get that extra motivation to do it right once again."

'We're fighting to make F1 more entertaining'

Ross Brawn has been made the sport's new managing director of racing, and the former Mercedes boss told the panel entertainment will be key to success...

"There are some straightforward issues, but the solutions are going to take some time," he said.

"We want to focus on making the show as good as it can be and the entertainment as good as it can be. Every decision will have to tick some boxes and those will be 'does it make sport better? Does it make it more entertaining? Does it make it more economic?'

"You can't change a sport as complex as Formula 1 overnight but the message is that we are fighting to make the sport as entertaining and as viable as we can.

"I hope with the continued pressure we can apply, we can steer the sport into a better place."

'I knew Toto would call'

Williams deputy team principal Claire Williams says she is good friends with Toto Wolff, but knew the Mercedes boss would come calling for Valtteri Bottas when Nico Rosberg retired...

Why did Mercedes take Bottas?

"Because he is a fantastic talent and the all-round package. One of the great things about Valtteri is he is such a team player, very apolitical and, as a team boss, you always want someone like him who isn't going to cause problems, who is going to pull down the visor and just go for it.

"He is a typical Finn, very cool, calm and collected. There is a definitely an emotional streak that runs through Valtteri. He was extremely keen to get into that Mercedes.

"He will bring that to the team, but you don't want that coming into the cockpit when you're hurtling round a track at 200mph.

"He was a big part of our ambitions but it is not right to stand in a driver's way when a seat like Mercedes comes along."

This content will not work on your device, please check Javascript and cookies are enabled or update your browser

What about Felipe Massa's return?

"We needed someone in the second car who had experience. It was fantastic that he agreed to come back, for us it is the ideal solution."

What are your hopes for Williams in 2017?

"We have done a lot of work in restructuring and the future remains bright. To put any sort of performance expectation on it is difficult because of the new regulations, but we have to move up from fifth."

Gareth Bale: Real Madrid & Wales forward set to return from ankle injury Scores, Results & Fixtures

Gareth Bale is set to make his first appearance since November after being passed fit for Real Madrid's match at home to Espanyol on Saturday.

The 27-year-old Wales forward has been out since having surgery on ankle tendon damage suffered in November.

"He will be in the squad and the plan is for him to __have some minutes," Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane said.

Madrid are top of the Spanish league by one point from Barcelona, but Zidane's side __have two games in hand. Barca play at home to fourth-from-bottom Leganes later on Saturday.

"Bale is a very important player for us. We know the quality and speed that he has, and the damage he can cause the opposition," Frenchman Zidane added.

    Premiership: Gloucester 31-23 Saracens

    Aviva Premiership
    Gloucester (16) 31
Tries: Marshall, Thrush, Hibbard Cons: Burns 2 Pens: Burns 3, Twelvetrees
    Saracens (13) 23
Tries: Brits, Fraser Cons: Lozowski 2 Pens: Bosch, Lozowski 2

Saracens suffered a second straight Premiership defeat but fit-again prop Mako Vunipola staked a claim to rejoin England as he played 70 minutes of their loss at an inspired Gloucester.

Vunipola, returning after nine weeks out, proved his fitness in a game won by Richard Hibbard's late try.

It was level at 23-23 after tries from Sarries' Schalk Brits and Will Fraser plus Gloucester' Tom Marshall and Jeremy Thrush.

But Hibbard's late score clinched it.

A Billy Twelvetrees penalty seven minutes from the end had edged Gloucester ahead for the third time in the enthralling top-flight battle before the hosts' third try denied Saracens a losing bonus point.

    • Relive Gloucester's win over Saracens

Sarries, who lost back-to-back first-team games for the first time since May 2015, missed the chance to close the gap on leaders Wasps at the top.

Things had looked ominous for Gloucester - who __have lost just once at home in all competitions since October - when Saracens crossed early on through South Africa hooker Brits after clever play from Richard Wigglesworth.

But David Humphreys' side settled into a bruising game and eventually earned themselves a three-point half-time lead thanks to Marshall's try and Billy Burns' accurate boot.

After the break, lock Thrush collected a loose Saracens pass to extend the hosts' lead with only his second try for the club, before Alex Lozowski's penalty cut the deficit for Sarries.

A gripping game was then interrupted by a worrying injury to Gloucester fly-half Burns, who went down after a try-saving tackle in the corner and received lengthy treatment before being taken off on a stretcher with an oxygen mask, with the medical staff taking care not to move the 22-year-old.

Saracens then drew level when Will Fraser crossed after a driving maul from a line-out and Lozowski converted to make it 23-23, and the visitors looked set for a late comeback.

But then, after Twelvetrees had kicked Gloucester back in front from the tee, David Halaifonua broke quickly and almost crossed in the corner before the match-clinching try finally came from the resulting line-out, as Hibbard's strength saw him over.

Gloucester hooker Richard Hibbard told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:

"We had a terrible game last week and we asked for a reaction. It was all about us this week.

"The scrum was a big positive for us tonight. It was something we worked on this week. Now we need to build on this win and push on.

"It is a massive win. They are the champions. We can really take positives from this game and go to Wasps confident."

Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall told BBC Sport:

"We're disappointed that we couldn't get something from the game. We were not as composed as we normally are in our half.

"We had an open mind as to how Mako Vunipola was going to go and he felt pretty good. He did well.

"I'm assuming he's going to play against Italy now in some form."

Gloucester: Marshall; Sharples, Scott, Twelvetrees, Halaifonua; Burns, Heinz (capt); Hohneck, Hibbard, Ma'afu; Savage, Thrush; Moriarty, Rowan, Morgan.

Replacements: Matu'u, Thomas, Doran-Jones, Galarza, Ludlow, Braley, Hook, Trinder.

Harry Redknapp: Tottenham to win title within four years, says former Spurs boss

Tottenham Hotspur will win the Premier League within the next four years, says former manager Harry Redknapp.

Spurs made the Champions League for the first time during Redknapp's four-year tenure at the club, reaching the quarter-finals in 2011.

The 69-year-old says he would not swap manager Mauricio Pochettino's starting XI for any other side in the division.

"They __have been fantastic under Pochettino," Redknapp told BBC Radio 5 live's Friday Football Social.

"I __have absolutely loved the way they have played - their football, the pace of the full-backs.

"Tottenham will go on and win the Premier League in the next three or four years."

    • Wenger is a complete one-man band - Redknapp
    • Howe not ready for Arsenal job - ex-Bournemouth boss

Spurs sit third in the Premier League, 10 points behind leaders Chelsea, but lost to Liverpool on Saturday and at Gent in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 tie on Thursday.

They have not won the title since 1961 and finished third last year after looking like champions Leicester's main challengers for long periods.

But Tottenham expect to have a new 61,000-seater stadium completed in time for the 2018-19 season, which Redknapp, who left the club in 2012, believes will play a big part in any future success.

"They've not been up there with the big spenders," he added. "Now with the new stadium the crowds are going to nearly double.

"The man who owns the club, Joe Lewis, is up there with the richest men in the world. So there's certainly no shortage of money.

"Maybe they do run out of steam, maybe he [Pochettino] hasn't been able to rotate and could do with another three or four top players to give him the strength in depth.

"If you said to me 'go and manage any team you want', I would take Tottenham's best XI."

Jackson Page: 15-year-old snooker prodigy's pro hopes & parents' pride

As excuses for missing school go, playing in the third round of a ranking tournament against the world's fourth best snooker player is a pretty good one.

On Thursday afternoon, Jackson Page was meant to be taking part in a physical education lesson at Ebbw Fawr Learning Community in Blaenau Gwent.

Instead, the 15-year-old from Ebbw Vale found himself in front of the television cameras at Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena, playing former world number one Judd Trump for a place in the last 16 of the Welsh Open.

Having beaten Jason Weston and John Astley in the first and second rounds, Page attracted a big crowd; the locals curious to see if this improbably bearded schoolboy could continue his improbable run.

However, his match against Trump - the winner of six ranking titles - proved a bridge too far for the Welsh teenager.

    • Page loses to Trump, as another teenager beats Selby
    • Welsh Open 2017: BBC coverage details
    • Welsh Open 2017 scores and schedule

Page was brave in his shot selection and eager to match his opponent's attacking instincts, but was ultimately outclassed as Trump ruthlessly raced to a 4-0 win.

"It was great out there but there were a lot of nerves and pressure too," says Page, remarkably calm and level-headed for a 15-year-old.

"It's been great - I've loved every minute of it. My friends __have been proud of me and enjoyed watching me. Now it's back to blazers and ties.

"No-one likes school really. When I'm there I just can't wait to get into the snooker hall."

Luckily for Page, his teachers recognise his potential and are happy for him to forego as many lessons as is necessary for him to pursue his snooker ambitions.

After a week in school, Page will travel to Cyprus for the European Championships, where winning the under-21 or senior competition would give him the opportunity to turn professional.

    Proud parents

With Page in Cyprus will be his mother Clare, who along with father Andrew, has been integral to his snooker development.

Being the parents of a budding player has meant driving him from school to the local snooker hall every day, then for a whole day of practice on Saturdays and usually a tournament on Sundays - of which Page enters about 33 a year.

"We're so proud, we just can't believe it," says Clare.

"We came down here with no expectation. He did, he had expectation because he's got all the confidence in the world.

"We were just thinking we've got a couple of days off work, we'll come down with him, and my head was mostly down because I couldn't watch."

Andrew was the first person Jackson saw as he left the table after his first and second-round wins, and he begins to well up as he reflects on his son's achievement.

"It's emotional. Even seeing him walk out on the big stage, you get a lump in your throat," says Andrew, his eyes glistening as he struggles to restrain his tears.

"When that last black went in - I don't know if it was the first round or the second, I can't remember - I was the first one out of there, before anyone could see me crying."

The pride, warmth and sheer enthusiasm with which Page's parents speak is infectious. They joke that it is just as well they __have only one son - as they would simply not have the time to support another child as lovingly or committedly.

'Prize money? Maybe I'll buy a burger'

Page, while equally amenable and friendly, is more reserved. His is a temperament made for professional sport.

Perhaps it is a quality he has gleaned from two-time world champion Mark Williams, who is from Cwm - just a couple of miles away from Ebbw Vale - and has been helping Page train.

"He's very laid back, which is a good trait to have," Page says. "I've played with Mark on the practice tables a few times. You learn off him and get tips off him."

Williams, a former world number one with 18 ranking titles and about £5m in prize money to his name, will be a valuable influence as Page aims to establish himself.

The financial rewards for leading snooker players can be great and, this week, Page got a taste of things which might be to come.

Reaching the third round of the Welsh Open earned him £3,500 - a far cry from the pocket money or paper rounds with which most 15-year-olds have to make do.

True to form, the measured Page plans to put the majority of that sum in the bank. Surely, though, after such a remarkable week, he can afford himself a little treat?

He ponders his options, smiles and says: "I might get a McDonalds later."

    What they say

    Former world champion Terry Griffiths

"When I saw Jackson play, it reminded me of when I was 15 years of age and how I thought about playing. He just loves to be there.

"He takes on shots that other people turn down because he's excited at that age and to win two matches as he has done is exceptional.

"He's a tremendous potter, he's got no fear at all."

    Former world champion Mark Williams

"He's played a few pros already and beaten them. I didn't do that when I was 15. What he is doing is incredible.

"He is a very fast player, he will slow down when he's older, but he is only 15. He keeps winning under-21 tournaments, so he doesn't need to change too much."

Deputy phase director of Ebbw Fawr Learning Community, Paul Freeguard

"We are very, very proud of his achievement, but not surprised, as he is an under-18 world champion.

"The other pupils are following the tournament, they are all avid fans now. They are getting time to catch up and watch him.

"He will have exams when he comes back, same as everyone else, so he will be expected to catch up on the work he has missed.

"Jackson will make a professional career out of snooker so it would be unfair if we hadn't supported him. But I couldn't tell you why he doesn't like history or English, but luckily he's doing well in those subjects.

"He will get a hero's welcome when he returns to the school."

Snow-Camp: Empowering young people through snowsports

How can one skiing lesson change the life of a young person who is failing in school and getting into trouble?

Three years ago that person was Jonjoe, but after his mum persuaded him to go on a Snow-Camp ski course, everything changed.

"I was worried because I felt he just didn't know where he was going," said Debby. "I never dreamed this would come out of that moment."

I love the way Snow-Camp uses my sport to support young people who wouldn't ever get the chance to get involved in snow sports

Jenny Jones Olympic Bronze Medallist Snowboarder

The thrill of taking part in snow sports often attracts young people but the associated costs can mean it is an experience only available to the privileged and wealthy.

UK charity Snow-Camp works in deprived inner-city areas to use young people's interest in the sports to engage them and provide life skills, qualifications and vocational training.

"I was a perfect candidate for it," says Jonjoe, who comes from Hackney Wick in London. "I'd never seen snow before, crazily! And never ever thought I'd put skis on."

Jonjoe progressed through the charity's programmes and last year was offered a year's paid apprenticeship in the snow sports industry.

"Through the apprenticeship I'm now an internationally-qualified ski coach and working my way up. Just through that one day of saying 'You know what mum, maybe I am going to go...', it's completely changed my life."

You can watch more of Jonjoe's story on Ski Sunday on Sunday, 19 February, on BBC Two at 17.15 GMT (17.30 in Wales) - here we introduce two more Snow-Camp graduates and explain more about how the programme works...

    Sami's Story

In 2014, Sami had dropped out of school and was often in trouble with the police. He lacked confidence and was facing a future that involved gangs, crime and continued unemployment.

"I was easily influenced and vulnerable to bad decisions. I had an attitude and I wasn't the best with authority," he said.

Snowboarding has already inspired me to improve my life and I want to use it to __have a positive impact on others.

    Sami Snow-Camp 2016 Apprentice

"I didn't know what I wanted to do as I had been through so much and let it drag me to the lowest of the low."

He turned to the youth club Ladbroke Grove for support who enrolled him on to Snow-Camp's programmes, and over the next year progressed to gain a Snowsport England Level 1 Snowboarding Instructor qualification.

"I never knew I wanted to snowboard for the rest of my life," Sami added. "That's because I didn't want to because it's a sport that people like me don't even consider.

"Snow-Camp has had a big effect on my personal life. I now feel like I can do something valuable and worthwhile with my time.

"My dream is to become a full-time snowboard instructor. Snowboarding has already inspired me to improve my life and I want to use it to __have a positive impact on others."

    Hamza's Story

Like many boys of his age, 13-year-old Hamza didn't enjoy school; he was often getting into trouble and had no aspirations for his future.

His family were worried he may get involved with gangs and would struggle to gain any GCSEs so Hamza's youth worker got in touch with Snow-Camp.

Hamza connected to snow sports immediately and was willing to work hard in classroom activities just to be able to strap on a snowboard.

Hamza said: "Before Snow-Camp I didn't enjoy school... I did not think that I would enjoy snow sports or want to work hard in a classroom, but with Snow-Camp I do both of these things."

Like Jonjoe and Sami, Hamza completed the programme of training which led to him being awarded one of the charity's apprenticeships.

"I'm inspired to become a full-time snowboard and ski instructor, showing others the skills that can be learnt through these amazing sports," he said.

"I want to show young people from estates like mine that they too can become snowboard and ski instructors."

When Hamza finishes his apprenticeship in June 2017, his future is looking bright.

At the end of Snow-Camp's 2015 programme year, 85% of young people who completed their Journey of Programmes went on to either employment, training or further education.

To date, 90% of Snow-Camp apprentices gain a full-time job in the snow sports industry at the end of their apprenticeship.

    A 'journey of programmes'

Snow-Camp works directly with youth projects and youth service providers to find participants who are most in need of support.

The programmes are operated at indoor and artificial slopes in the UK:

    • Snow Centre, Hemel Hempstead
    • Snow Factor, Glasgow
    • Cardiff Ski and Snowboard Centre
    • Gloucester Ski and Snowboard Centre
    • SnowDome, Tamworth

The charity runs a full range of programmes for young people aged 13-21, taking them from their first experience of snowboarding or skiing, through to instructor training for the over-16s and, for five students a year, a paid full-time apprenticeship.

For every hour the trainees spend learning how to ski or snowboard, the same amount of time is spent in the classroom.

"When you look inside Snow-Camp's programmes, they train an individual to be able to control certain aspects of behaviour, to channel negative energy into positive energy and create the overall outcome of someone who could work in the same industry as me," said Warren Smith, international free skier and ambassador for the charity.

Sir Steve Redgrave is another supporter: "Snow-Camp is a fantastic charity helping those from deprived backgrounds do something positive.

"People say snow sports are for the elite, and rowing has that reputation too. Snow-Camp proves this is not necessarily the case."

Arsene Wenger: Key questions on Arsenal's manager future

After Arsenal's humiliating 5-1 defeat by Bayern Munich in the Champions League, there __have been fresh questions about manager Arsene Wenger's future.

But with a new contract offer remaining on the table, what is the situation around their manager of almost 21 years?

BBC sports news reporter David Ornstein addresses some of the biggest questions facing the club.

Arsenal, a post Christmas wobble and a probable Champions League last-16 exit. We've been here before. Is it any different this time?

For Arsenal, 2016-17 is turning into a carbon copy of the past six seasons - and even resembles the four before that.

The difference now is that it could genuinely spell the end for Arsene Wenger. Wednesday's defeat has badly stung the 67-year-old Frenchman and senior figures at the club, while the anger, pain and disillusionment among supporters is stronger than ever.

Though the Gunners are not yet out of Europe, remain in the FA Cup and are fourth in the Premier League, it seems a growing majority of the fanbase believes Wenger should leave when his contract expires in the summer.

Neither the Arsenal board nor Wenger __have ever been swayed by such opinion, but for the first time in his tenure I think there will be serious doubt on both sides about whether he should continue.

Should we read anything into so many former players, previously so loyal, saying they feel Wenger is coming to the end?

Given how well the likes of Ian Wright, Martin Keown and Lee Dixon know Wenger, their views should not be discarded. These are prominent and respected past squad members who, over the years, have tended to support the Frenchman and do still see him behind closed doors.

But, equally, views are not facts and these ex-players do not actually know what is going to happen.

Wenger has a very small circle of people he trusts and it is understood even they are in the dark over his intentions because, put simply, he is yet to make a decision.

    • I will be managing next season, here or elsewhere - Wenger
    • Background: BBC Sport's David Ornstein answers your questions on Wenger's future
    • 'Outclassed', 'lowest point', 'embarrassing' - is Wenger's time up?

Inside the club, what is thought to be the feeling of both the squad and officials on all the speculation?

The message from Arsenal is 'business as usual' before Monday's FA Cup trip to Sutton United, which suddenly carries even greater importance.

However, there can be no hiding from the sense of deja vu, and those I spoke to on Thursday sounded both depressed by what they had witnessed in Munich and sick of the negativity engulfing the club again.

I hear of confusion among players and staff as to what is going on - there is no clear plan on or off the pitch - and certain individuals have sought information on Wenger's future to no avail.

Some around the club think he will stay; others are adamant he is finished. Meanwhile, reports of angry post-match scenes in the dressing room will only add to what has become a tense and unhealthy environment.

With Wenger having a contract extension offer on the table, to what extent does he remain the master of his own future? Who else is key and what will be the key factors in any decision?

As the most successful and longest-serving manager in Arsenal history, Wenger will have the biggest say. However, it will not be the only say.

He and the board have enough respect for one other to hold mature discussions over whether signing a new contract is in the best interests of the club. In that sense, it will be a mutual decision.

The board comprises chairman Sir Chips Keswick, chief executive Ivan Gazidis and directors Ken Friar, Lord Harris of Peckham, Stan Kroenke and his son, Josh.

All will have a stance, the most important being that of owner Kroenke Sr. He is said to be in favour of Wenger staying on, so if the manager is to leave it will likely have to be his own call.

Wenger assesses his position at the end of each campaign, so the next three months will be pivotal. Other possible considerations include his desire, Arsenal's realistic prospects, the atmosphere inside and outside the club, and the state of any succession plans.

    • Decision on Wenger future at end of season

Ozil is already on record as saying Wenger is important to his future at the club. How important is Wenger to keeping some of the other star players?

In Wenger's earlier years, many players joined Arsenal specifically to work under the Frenchman. They were fiercely loyal to him and if his future was in doubt then so was theirs. They openly spoke about it and, to this day, many credit him for their rise.

That pulling power has endured to an extent, yet for various reasons related to Wenger, Arsenal and the transfer market, it is not as strong.

Ozil praised his manager but did not say the 67-year-old was key to his future, more that he wanted to know who would be in charge as he ponders a new contract himself.

I can't think of any other current player who has even mentioned Wenger when discussing their future.

Arsenal are confident they are now big enough to attract and retain players without needing to rely on the lure of Wenger.

    • Ozil 'thinks he is being made scapegoat'
    • Goal-shy Ozil lacks confidence - Wenger

Three Premier League titles, six FA Cups and never finishing outside the top four in 21 years. That's quite a legacy. How much of a concern is the prospect of the unknown quantity of a post-Wenger era?

This must be a huge worry to Arsenal. Wenger has transformed the club into a major global power on and off the pitch, keeping them competitive in top-level domestic and European competition, with a new stadium built along the way.

It is an astonishing achievement - but such is the position that Wenger has put Arsenal in, especially financially, it is clear the board fear how they would fare without him.

If not, and they were serious about winning the Premier League and Champions League, surely with only three FA Cups to show for the past 12 years they would have given somebody else a go?

The reality is there is no guarantee the next manager will do better than Wenger and that is presumably why Arsenal have retained his services for so long.

    Arsenal's trophies under Wenger
    Premier League (3) 1997-98, 2001-02, 2003-04
    FA Cup (6) 1997-98, 2001-02, 2002-03, 2004-05, 2013-14, 2014-15
    Community Shield (6) 1998, 1999, 2002, 2004, 2014, 2015

Have we any indication what succession planning has been done and the sort of names or manager types Arsenal have in mind?

Gazidis used to joke about a drawer in his office containing contingency plans in the event of Wenger leaving, which he hoped would stay locked for many years. However, now that is a realistic prospect, it would be remiss of Gazidis not to have updated his files.

It has been reported that Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel leads a four-man shortlist. The other three candidates are said to be Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri, Bayer Leverkusen's Roger Schmidt and Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim.

And finally, next up are Sutton United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich. How key are those three games to this situation?

For Arsenal, losing to Sutton does not bear thinking about. It would rank as one of greatest upsets of all time and is surely no way for Wenger to go out.

The Gunners are obviously clear favourites, but after the events of Munich the pressure will be even higher.

Liverpool away is huge for both sides in their quest for a top-four finish. Defeat, against a rival managed by Jurgen Klopp, who Arsenal have been linked with in the past, would further ratchet up the scrutiny surrounding Wenger's position.

The return leg against Bayern has echoes of Arsenal's tie against AC Milan in 2012, when they lost the first leg 3-0 and therefore needed four unanswered goals to progress.

They almost did it, but this Bayern side are far superior to that Milan team and they should confirm Arsenal's exit in what may be Wenger's final European game as the club's manager.

Lawro's FA Cup predictions v ArsenalFanTV host Robbie and the Fulhamish podcast

For each round of this season's FA Cup, BBC Sport's football expert Mark Lawrenson is pitting his predicting wits against a different celebrity guest.

This week, Robbie Lyle - the man behind the ever-entertaining ArsenalFanTV - is joined by Sammy, Jack and Ben from the Fulhamish podcast as Lawro's opponents.

ArsenalFanTV __have almost 350,000 subscribers on YouTube and their passionate, opinionated post-match interviews __have attracted viewers far beyond the club's fanbase.

Former Manchester United and England defender Gary Neville has agreed to appear on the channel after calling some of the opinions aired after the Gunners defeat to Chelsea earlier this month "embarrassing".

Robbie has particularly fond memories of the 2014 final when Arsenal recovered from conceding two goals in the opening eight minutes to beat Hull 3-2 in extra time and win their first trophy in nine years.

    LAWRO'S FA CUP FIFTH-ROUND PREDICTIONS

All kick-offs 15:00 GMT unless otherwise stated.

    SATURDAY

Burnley v Lincoln City (12:30 GMT)

I think that Lincoln, more than fellow National League side Sutton, are the real success story of the FA Cup so far. As well as beating Championship side Brighton at home in the last round, they went and beat Ipswich in the third round.

Burnley away is probably one of the worst draws they can have though. Sean Dyche's side are strong, physical and very well organised - there won't be many in that team that roll over when they are on the wrong end of a heavy tackle.

Lincoln will have made lots of money, lots of friends and, having won all three games since beating Brighton, their run does not seem to have detracted from the rest of their season.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-0

Robbie: Burnley are very, very strong at home, I think it is going to be the end of the road for Lincoln unfortunately. 2-0

    Fulhamish: 1-1

    Match preview

    Huddersfield Town v Manchester City

Manchester City are playing Monaco in the Champions League last 16 on Tuesday, but Pep Guardiola has picked strong teams in the FA Cup so far this season.

Huddersfield are going great guns under manager David Wagner. They have won six straight games coming into this match which takes some doing in the dog-eat-dog Championship.

But City have hit a good run of form that has coincided with a 4-3-3 formation that they have hit on with Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus up front.

Jesus is out, but they have Sergio Aguero - one of the best strikers in the country - to come in. That's not bad.

    Lawro's prediction: 0-2

    Robbie: 1-3

Fulhamish: We beat Huddersfield 5-0 earlier this season, but they are going well in the league. With City possibly resting players ahead of the Champions League, you can imagine it will be a tight game, but perhaps not an upset. 1-2

    Match preview

    Middlesbrough v Oxford

This is an absolute free hit for Oxford. Middlesbrough don't score many goals at home, so there is no need to park the bus. They should go and have a real go at Aitor Karanka's lot.

I would love my old team to get through, but I fear this might be a hurdle too far.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-1

    Robbie: 1-0

    Fulhamish: 1-0

    Match preview

    Millwall v Leicester

League One Millwall have picked up two Premier League scalps already on their run, with Bournemouth and Watford falling by the wayside. They have not lost in 12 games.

But Leicester are in a serious mess if they can't go away to Millwall and avoid defeat at the very least. It will be interesting to see which team Claudio Ranieri picks. That 2-0 defeat by Swansea at the weekend might have been the last straw for some. Maybe a change of personnel will provide the impetus they need.

I can't see Millwall winning again though.

    Lawro's prediction: 1-2

    Robbie: 1-0

Fulhamish: I can smell an upset here, big time. Millwall love the FA Cup, they beat Premier League Watford pretty comfortably in the last round and Leicester are not looking great. 2-0

    Match preview

    Wolves v Chelsea (17:30 GMT)

I was at Wolves' 2-1 win over Liverpool in the last round and they had a real go. Their left-sided attacker Helder Costa looked a real handful that day and two days later Wolves announced that they had bought him for £13m on a permanent deal. One way or another, I think he will end up in the Premier League soon.

Chelsea looked very good for the first 20 minutes of their draw against Burnley, but were pretty ordinary for the next 70. They didn't get beaten though and that is why they are going to win the league.

They may not be involved in any other competitions, but manager Antonio Conte won't want the bother of a replay.

    Lawro's prediction: 0-1

    Robbie: 0-2

Fulhamish: You couldn't look further than Wolves on this one could you? Comfortable for the hosts. 3-0

    Match preview

    SUNDAY

Fulham v Tottenham (14:00 GMT - live on BBC One from 13:40 GMT)

Fulham are one of the most attractive teams to watch in the Championship. There is a lot of talk of 16-year-old left-back Ryan Sessegnon, who is an outstanding prospect, but Tom Cairney in midfield is a very good player. In Slavisa Jokanovic, the former Watford boss, they have a manager who really should still be in the Premier League as well.

We are not quite sure what sort of team Tottenham will put out. They included Harry Kane, Dele Alli and other first-choice players from the start against Gent in the Europa League on Thursday night which might be a factor.

I think Tottenham might struggle to get the job done at Craven Cottage, but I think they will come through a replay back at White Hart Lane.

    Lawro's prediction: 1-1

Robbie: Come on Fulham! No, I'm trying not to be biased doing this, but this is a game where you could see a shock. Fulham are playing some decent stuff at home, Tottenham will probably rest a few players, you never know. 1-1.

Fulhamish: I think we can pull off an upset, but it is going to be a very, very close game. We are two clubs with strong footballing identities, who love to keep possession, and have great full-backs. 1-1

    Match preview

Blackburn v Manchester United (16:15 GMT)

In terms of the depth of quality, Manchester United have as good a squad as any. Even if they make six or seven changes for this, they will field a team that would finish halfway up the Premier League.

Blackburn are down in the Championship relegation zone, but they have had plenty of bad luck with disallowed goals and sendings-off in recent weeks.

If there is going to be a big protest from the Blackburn fans against the Venky's owners to coincide with United's visit and the television cameras, that won't help the players.

The Ewood Park pitch is a large one which is not good for the hosts.

    Lawro's prediction: 0-2

    Robbie: 0-3

    Fulhamish: 2-3

    Match preview

    MONDAY

Sutton United v Arsenal (19:55 GMT - live on BBC One from 19:30 GMT)

On certain days against certain teams, Arsenal are mentally weak. That is not something that you can instil in people and without it there is only so far you can go. We saw that in that 5-1 defeat away to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

I'm a massive fan, but I think that Arsene Wenger will leave at the end of the season when his contract is up. I think it has come to a natural conclusion.

I think Arsenal will win against Sutton. It'll be tough because Sutton are very good at playing on their artificial surface, but they can't win an argument in the National League. Since beating Leeds in the fourth round, they have scored one goal and conceded 10 in four matches. It is understandable if they have switched off mentally.

    Lawro's prediction: 0-3

Robbie: It's the big one. You look at it and think it is going to be a standard win for Arsenal. But you know what we are like! I think the plastic pitch might be a bit of an advantage to Arsenal, suiting our passing game more than a mud bath. I can see us winning this, although we'll probably pick up about three injuries on the way. 0-3

    Fulhamish: 1-3
