Michael Bisping will not be fighting Ronaldo Jacare Souza or anyone else at UFC 206 after the middleweight champion failed to shake off an orbital injury in his leg.
The British champion has spent the last week insisting he wanted to fight in Toronto in December and pursued fights with Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz.
An injury to Luke Rockhold earlier in the week had opened the door for Bisping to fight Jacare at UFC 206, but the 37-year-old revealed he has a problem with his leg.
‘I’ve never ducked anybody in my life,’ said Bisping on UFC Tonight.
‘Now I know what everybody at home is going to say. ‘Didn’t you call out ‘GSP’ a couple of weeks ago?’
‘Yes I did, but really, think about this: That was a massive payday.
‘Roughly three to four million dollars is what I would __have earned for that fight.
‘Against Jacare, I’m going to get around about a quarter.
‘As you all know, I fought Dan Henderson very recently.
