Edinson Cavani linked with Manchester United transfer.. Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani is likely to join Manchester United this summer, as Paris Saint-Germain free up the necessary funds to sign Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria for up to €80 million.
This is according to Spanish newspaper Marca, who claim that the transfer of Cavani to Old Trafford is now "more than probable". PSG have subsequently been given the green light to press on with plans to sign Di Maria, who was also on the radar of the Red Devils until recently.

Cavani speculation
Speculation over Cavani's future has been intense since the middle of last season, with the prolific Uruguayan forward reportedly unhappy about being played out on the right flank, in order to accommodate star teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic, by PSG boss Laurent Blanc.
Last week it was claimed that Blanc and Cavani held positive talks, with the former promising a change in tactics ahead of the 2014/15 campaign.
However, with the Parisians intent on securing the services of Di Maria, it seems Cavani will be offloaded to Manchester United in order to finance the deal for the Argentina international.
United's Cavani pursuit: Brilliant or bizarre?
If Marca's reports are accurate and Manchester United do sign Cavani for a club-record fee over the forthcoming weeks, then questions over Louis van Gaal's transfer policy will inevitably arise.
United are already well-stocked in attack - with Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez at Van Gaal's disposal - and all are capable of either playing either on their own or with a partner in a variety of systems.
Cavani will not agree to move to Old Trafford unless he is guaranteed a starting spot, which would result in Van Gaal dropping one of the aforementioned strikers in order to accommodate the South American.
But there's no doubting Cavani's pedigree. The 27-year-old scored 25 goals in 43 matches during his debut season with PSG, and netted a stunning 104 goals in 138 games in his three years with Serie A giants Napoli.

But, with PSG keen to sell Cavani as quickly as possible, United only have a short period of time to complete a transfer before another club attempts to secure his services.
