When was the last time you saw a main event as the first at WWE No Mercy? Probably never. Or the company claims so. For the first time in the history WWE opened No Mercy with the main event. The company decided to open the event with the World Champion event where AJ Styles, John Cena and Dean Ambrose played a triple threat match to decide the champion. The triple threat match gave each of the three wrestlers moments to shine before one emerged as the winner.

Cena had a difficult time in the match with Ambrose locking him up in STF which was only broken by Styles, who later suplexed Cena. Ambrose also received a splash from Styles. Cena locked Styles in the STF and alsmost the submission when Ambrose held Styles hand to prevent it.

Styles almost got a submission on Cena before Ambrose intervened and tried to get a submission on Styles. Cena came back and got Styles in STF again when he was trying to get a submission on Ambrose. Styles tapped out but no winner was declared. Surprisingly, the bell had rung the fight continued.

The refree was also pulled out by Styles when Ambrose almost got Cena in 1-2-3. Cena overturned this with an AA on Ambrose and was clearly winning after that move but for Styles. With no disqualification in this match, the wrestler came in with a chair and hit Cena to get the win.
