George Saville has joined Wolves on a permanent deal. Chelsea have confirmed the departure of highly-rated midfielder George Saville, who has completed a permanent transfer to Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers. The 21-year-old leaves Stamford Bridge having failed to make a single appearance for the Blues’ first team.
A statement on Chelsea’s official website reads: “Everybody at Chelsea Football Club would like to thank George for his service and wish him the best of luck for the future.”

Saville: The story so far
Saville arrived at Chelsea from Reading in 2004, at the age of 11, and was coached by the current Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers in the west London outfit’s academy. He was part of the squad that lifted the FA Youth Cup in 2010.
Last year he had a brief loan spell with Millwall, but it was at Brentford during the 2013-14 campaign where he was able to showcase his true talents, playing a pivotal role in helping the Bees secure promotion to the Championship back in May.
He was expected to complete a loan move to Middlesbrough earlier this month - Mourinho’s former assistant at Real Madrid, Aitor Karanka, is the current boss at the Riverside Stadium - but Chelsea have opted to offload him on a permanent transfer instead.
Chelsea to receive £1m?
Reports suggest that Chelsea will receive a £1 million fee for the Camberley-born midfielder - although this remains unconfirmed at the time of writing - after he completed a routine medical with Wolves on Monday afternoon.
Saville, despite his reputation as one of Chelsea’s most promising young footballers, faced an uphill battle to secure a first-team spot at Stamford Bridge because of the intense competition for places.
Youngsters struggling at Stamford Bridge
Twenty-year-old Patrick Bamford finds himself in the same position, although Mourinho is expected to allow the talented striker to join Middlesbrough on a loan deal in the forthcoming days.
The Portuguese coach has also opted to send Josh McEachran, who was widely considered the best young player Chelsea had produced for years back in 2010, to Dutch partner club Vitesse for the season.
Chelsea fans, however, are unlikely to be too concerned that promising young footballers from their academy are failing to make the grade at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are the current favourites to lift the 2014/15 Premier League title, having spent huge sums of money on the signings of top-level players including Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa and Filipe Luis.
Mourinho’s men kicked off the new Premier League campaign with a 3-1 win over Burnley, and followed up that result with a 2-0 victory over Leicester City on Saturday.
