Laurent Blanc believes Adrien Rabiot will leave PSG

PSG manager Laurent Blanc has confirmed Adrien Rabiot is likely to leave the club after rejecting a new deal.

The 19-year-old is one of the most highly rated youngsters at Parc des Princes but has been struggling to come to an agreement with Blanc. Rabiot's contract expires next summer and he has been unwilling to commit his future because of the lack of opportunities in the first team.

Set to leave

Blanc confirmed that the player is set to depart the French capital, but could not confirm which club he will be going to.

He told reporters: "I believe he [Rabiot] will leave, but I can't tell you where.

"Rabiot has received a good [contract] offer from PSG but apparently it doesn't interest him. It's a shame.

"I think his entourage is taking advantage of his contractual situation."

Arsenal bid accepted

Although Blanc has refused to name clubs interested in the defensive midfielder, Premier League trio Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal are believed to be interested.

Out of the three, it is Arsene Wenger's side who appear to be in advanced negotiations to sign Rabiot. Reports in France suggested that Arsenal had agreed a £5.5 million fee with PSG and were on the verge of signing him.

The deal would make plenty of sense. Not only does Wenger hold an affinity towards French players, but he is also highly versed on turning potential talent into performance. Arsenal are also in need of a new defensive midfielder, giving Rabiot the chance for first team football now, rather than later.

£24 million price tag

However, there remains a problem. Gianluca Di Marzio - a Sky Italia journalist widely renowned to be one of the most connected men in the game - believes PSG are holding out for a massive £24 million for the player.

They are reluctant to see the player leave this summer and are trying to drive up the price despite the fact they could lose him for nothing next summer. With billionaire backers, PSG can afford to take the risk and hope the situation resolves itself.

Having already spent over £60 million, Wenger is unlikely to extend to such an offer especially as the likes of Sami Khedira and Alex Song are available at a fraction of £24 million.
