Marc Warren wins Made in Denmark

Scotland's Marc Warren has won the inaugural Made in Denmark event after posting a three-under par 68 during his final round.

On Saturday Warren had to overcome testing conditions with gusts up to 30mph but still carded an impressive five-under par 66 to give him an overnight share of the lead with Bradley Dredge at the Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort.

Better conditions

Conditions were much more favourable during the final day and, although Warren couldn't emulate his previous round, a 68 was enough for him to see off the threat of Dredge who could only score a 70.

The triumph represents Warren's third European Tour title and his first since 2006 at the Omega European Masters.

Dredge had lead at the halfway stage of the tournament but began the day by bogeying three of the first seven holes. However, amongst the three bogey was a birdie which left him still in contention at four under par.

Strong start

Meanwhile, Warren had started well and was on eight under par after two birdies but a bogey on the ninth gave Dredge a glimmer of hope.

That encouraged the Welshman who picked up three shots in the next four holes to move just two shots behind Warren.

But that two shot advantage remained for the rest of the day with Warren making a huge putt on the 14th to equal Dredge's birdie to keep him at arms length. The putt, from 50 feet, rolled agonisingly around the cup before dropping in to Warren's delight.

That putt appeared the give Warren the impenitence to go on and see out the remaining holes with confidence without ever looking like throwing away his lead.

Englishman finishes well

England's Phillip Archer finished in third, five shots behind Warren as he finished on four under par.

One shot adrift of Archer was crowd favourite Thomas Bjorn, along with English duo Oliver Fisher and Eddie Pepperell who both shot final rounds of 69.

The Made in Denmark event was the first European Tour event on Danish soil since 2003 and large crowds were attracted by the plethora of home players such as Bjorn.
