Andy Murray sabotages Judy's Strictly Come Dancing hopes

Andy Murray must be wondering whether his tweet outlining his views on Scottish independence were worth it; the aftermath has been nothing short of the atrocious, even his mum is due to suffer.

The British No.1 had kept his views to himself until the night before Scotland had their referendum vote to decide whether they would separate from the United Kingdom, and Murray admitted he was in favour of the split. 

However, the 27-year-old didn't get the result he had hoped for as the 'No to independence' campaign gained a 55% majority.

Backlash

To rub salt into his wounds, Murray was forced to deal with an angry backlash on Twitter of followers who criticised the airing of his views.

While some called him a hypocrite, considering he was ineligible to vote due to his English residency, others went too far and made sickening references to the Dunblane massacre of the 90s; when Murray was a pupil at a school which was raided by a gunmen who murdered 16 children and teachers. 

Police in Scotland condemned the messages as: "vile, disgusting and distasteful." 

The two-time major champion may have also caused a negative knock-on affect for his mother Judy as she prepares to appear on popular BBC dancing show 'Strictly Come Dancing.'

With the live shows scheduled to start next weekend, bookmakers have already slashed the odds of Great Britain's Fed Cup captain being the first to be booted off the competition. 

Having been a long-shot of 16/1 to go first, Andy's endorsement of the 'Yes' campaign has seen those odds plummet to just 10/1.

The bookies are suggesting that the 55-year-old may be the victim of those angry at her son when it comes to the public vote. 

Cringe

Perhaps Andy won't be especially upset with this scenario, however, the world no.11 has already stated his displeasure at his mother's decision to do the show and some the attention from it has been quite embarrassing.

Only last week, comedian Jack Whitehall claimed Judy was a 'cougar'; for those of you who don't know, a cougar in this sense is the term for an older lady who is romantically pursuing a younger man.

Andy will no doubt be preying that Whitehall's comments are just banter, otherwise it could be quite awkward viewing when Judy takes to the floor to throw some shapes with dance partner Anton Du Beke.
