Justin Bieber unsuccessfully attempts to play tennis

Justin Bieber is on the way to becoming a tennis player; however, that's possibly the first and last time you'll see the singer on the GiveMeSport Tennis page.

The 20-year-old has been spotted with a racquet in-hand on-court in videos uploaded to YouTube this week.

The reason for saying it may be the last time we hear of Bieber's credentials as a tennis star is because the quality was, shall we say, a little lacking.

Embarrassment

Aside from the hoards of screaming teenage girls that worship the Canadian, popular public opinion would suggest that Bieber making a fool of himself would make for good viewing, so here you are:

The singer of 'Baby' struggled to juggle the balls and to pick them up off the ground. His strokeplay wasn't up too much, if anything, either.

His serves would have had Roger Federer in fits of laughter as two consecutive attempts floated serenely into the net , his forehand shot nearly went behind him, a backhand has only just come back into orbit and one particularly amusingly enthusiastic effort at a smash was met with air.

Future in the sport?

Maybe I shouldn't be so harsh. After all, the burly-looking man alongside him in an apparent doubles match wasn't a Rafael Nadal-sort. It's hard to purvey quality when in a poor environment.

Who knows, with his assumed infinite wealth, Bieber could possibly recruit the best coaches and try and make it in the sport.

Bieber could join the growing market of talented young Canadian stars.

Fellow Canadian stars

Milos Raonic has certainly displayed quality that could see him one day crowned a Grand Slam champion, the 23-year-old world no.6 got to the semi-finals of Wimbledon this year.

Meanwhile in the women's game, Eugenie Bouchard - same age and nationality as Bieber - has become something of a sensation having reached two major semi-finals and one final this year.

What an Olympic line-up that could be. Bieber, Bouchard and Raonic all in cohorts...

Trouble

Bieber might need to curb his recent appetite for trouble, however. His recent rap-sheet includes incidents such as vandalism through egg-throwing, paparazzi assaults and an arrest for dangerous driving while suspected to be under the influence of drink and drugs.

He may be better off to continue hanging out with his friend Floyd Mayweather, the world's wealthiest athlete. Bieber has been invited to the ring for his fights in the past and he'll certainly get all the protection he needs.
