Marcos Rojo and Wayne Rooney enjoy Manchester United night out

It seems as though Manchester United are using time that would have otherwise been spent playing in the Champions League to do some team bonding, after a group of players were spotted out for dinner last evening.

The Red Devils finished down in seventh place last season which means there is no European football at Old Trafford this term.

Euro rivals

Rather than staying at home to watch the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool take on rivals from all over Europe, the Manchester United players spent their time a little more constructively by going out together.

Two of Louis van Gaal's players in particular appeared to be making an effort to get to know one another  - new £16 million signing Marcos Rojo shared a picture of him cosying up to Wayne Rooney in a Manchester bar.

Conversation

How much conversation actually went on remains to be seen; Van Gaal confirmed this week that his summer signings which includes Rojo speak little English, while Rooney is unlikely to be fluent in Spanish.

Also present on the night out were fellow Manchester United stars Radamel Falcao, Daley Blind, Luke Shaw and record signing Angel di Maria, while the WAGS, including Coleen Rooney, were there too.

Goalkeeper David de Gea also shared a picture of the Manchester United night out - he was alongside the Spanish-speaking contingent of players at Old Trafford including Juan Mata, Andreas Pereira and Ander Herrera amongst others.

Spree

The Red Devils' £150 million spending spree over the summer appears to have tipped the balance of the Manchester United dressing room in Spain's favour - -with Van Gaal admitting that he is conducting his team-talks in Spanish as well as English.

However the Dutchman doesn't intend to keep up  that practise, and has pledged that all his players will be able to speak English within the next 12 months.

Lessons

"You know already that all the Spanish players have lessons in English so we have started already more than two weeks,” the Manchester United boss said.

“We are only two weeks in this country because we were on the USA and after that we have also international week. But I can speak Spanish so it is better to communicate sometimes on the pitch in Spanish. But they shall learn English within one year, I promise.”
