00:03 - Right, after more than 15 relentless hours, this blog is done and so am I. It's been a pleasure to guide you through a frenetic deadline day, even though the two biggest deals are yet to be officially announced!
Be sure to keep a close eye on GMS tonight and in the coming days for the latest news with regards to Radamel Falcao and Danny Welbeck as well as all the fall-out from today's other business.
23:50 - Saido Mane has indeed joined Toby Alderweireld at Southampton, with the Senegalese midfielder said to have agreed a four-year deal at St Mary's.
23:34 - Reading have now confirmed the signing of Glenn Murray, with the Crystal Palace hitman heading to the Madejski Stadium until January.
23:27 - Southampton have announced a loan deal for Atletico Madrid defender and Belgium international Toby Alderweireld. No word as of yet if Saido Mane will be joining him on the South coast.
23:24 - Championship promotion contenders Norwich have been eager to boost their defence this evening, with former Arsenal man Ignasi Miquel being joined at Carrow Road by Southampton's Jos Hooiveld.
23:17 - Still waiting on official confirmation from the Hammers on this, but Marseille are reporting that Morgan Amalfitano has joined West Ham.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish believes that Glenn Murray has been allowed to join Championship outfit Reading on loan, although it seems the Royals are still waiting for the deal to be ratified by the Football Association.
23:10 - Valencia are believed to have agreed an initial loan deal for Alvaro Negredo, with a permanent deal firmly on the cards at the end of the season.
QPR did complete the signing of Niko Kranjcar before the window, and he will stay in West London for the rest of the 2014/15 campaign.
23:06 - A busy end to the window for Steve Evans' Millers, who also broke their transfer record to sign Oldham's Jonson Clarke-Harris.
Crystal Palace are said to have beat the deadline to bring Wolves outcast Kevin Doyle to Selhurst Park.
It seems like Radamel Falcao's move to Manchester United is subject to an extension, much like Welbeck....
23:02 - Rotherham have completed the signing of Luciano Becchio from Norwich on a season-long loan deal.
Meanwhile, Hull are another club who are said to have asked for an extension to the deadline, with the Tigers hoping to bring Hatem Ben Arfa to the KC Stadium.
23:00 - THAT'S IT - the transfer window has now officially closed. We await reports of any deals that were just done in time or have been subject to an extension.
22:56 - Arsenal have applied for an extension to complete the signing of Danny Welbeck, it has been announced by various sources...
22:49 - Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka looks to have benefitted once again from his close ties with Jose Mourinho after completing the loan signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Jamal Blackman.
As a result of that particular deal, Jason Steele has departed the Riverside Stadium for Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers.
22:46 - Following Micah Richards out of Manchester City is Emyr Huws, who has turned his loan move to Wigan Athletic into a permanent deal.
22:43 - Down in the Championship, Fulham have raided Leeds United once again for the signing of Matt Smith.
He will cost just a fraction of the £11 million that the Cottagers paid for Ross McCormack, however, with a £500k fee mooted along with a three-year deal.
22:37 - Still nothing official to bring you with regards to Radamel Falcao or Danny Welbeck, I'm afraid. It's a real race against the clock now for Manchester United and Arsenal
22:32 - A couple more confirmed deals to bring you now, with less than half an hour to go until the transfer deadline.
Hull City have made their third signing of the day with a loan move for Gaston Ramirez, while Stoke have completed a similar deal for Oussama Assaidi.
22:22 - One of the strangest moves of the window has now been completed north of the border, with Celtic announcing the arrival of Stefan Scepovic from Segunda División outfit Sporting Gijon.
The deal appeared to be scuppered at a late stage yesterday following a change of heart from the player himself, although it looks like the Serbian has now performed a second U-turn to sign a four-year contract at Parkhead.
22:18 - A little more detail on Micah Richards' loan move to Serie A now courtesy of Mike Keegan from BBC Sport
It is believed that Fiorentina have paid €4.5 million to seal the deal, with the option to make it permanent for just €6 million in 2015.
22:14 - As expected, midfield enforcer Sandro is said to have completed his move from Tottenham to QPR.
The Brazilian is reunited with former manager Harry Redknapp and has signed a three-year deal at Loftus Road.
22:10 - While Danny Welbeck is still expected to leave Old Trafford in the next hour, Tom Cleverley is set to remain at Manchester United with Everton's proposed move for the player supposedly now off.
22:04 - Micah Richards' loan move to Fiorentina is reportedly now sealed. A real opportunity for the versatile defender to prove himself with his career having screeched to a halt at Manchester City.
22:00 - Right, just an hour to go now to complete any final business. Looks like a number of deals are going to go to the wire......
21:50 - Rumours regarding a possible move back to La Liga for Manchester City forward Alvaro Negredo have surfaced once again.
Freelance football journalist Sergi Domínguez cites reports in Spain that claim Valencia have agreed a deal for the 29-year-old affectionately known as 'The beast of Vallecas'.
21:45 - Danny Welbeck to Arsenal is edging ever closer to completion. Manchester United are now said to have agreed a deal in principle with the Gunners for the permanent departure of the England forward.
21:40 - Stoke have been mentioned in conjunction with one or two loan deals today and it looks like Liverpool winger Oussama Assaidi is close to completing a return to the Britannia Stadium.
The Moroccan proved a popular figure at the Potteries during a similar spell under Mark Hughes last season.
21:38 - A little over an hour of the window to go and we await confirmation on some of the biggest deals of the day, including Radamel Falcao, Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley....
21:27 - On Tom Cleverley, the BBC now report that the only way he would join Everton would be if the Toffees were to present a loan deal...
21:16 - Just as I type that, it has been reported that Danny Welbeck's proposed move to Arsenal is expected to be permanent at a cost of £16 million.
Meanwhile, Norwich have now confirmed the signing of Arsenal defender Ignasi Miquel on a three-year contract.
21:10 - All quiet on the Danny Welbeck front just at the moment, although talkSPORT reporter Warren Haughton has provided an update on Tom Cleverley.
Everton now have a clear path to sign the Manchester United midfielder, with Aston Villa - who had a £7 million offer accepted last week - said to have withdrawn from the race due to concerns over wages.
21:04 - Still no official word on Reading's move for Glenn Murray. It has been reported in some quarters that Crystal Palace are trying to complete a loan deal for Wolves striker Kevin Doyle before allowing Murray to leave.
That particular news has not been well received by the majority of Eagles supporters....
20:58 - Klass-Jan Huntelaar to Arsenal is a rather farfetched rumour that has surfaced over the last couple of hours, yet Bundesliga club Schalke do not appear likely to conduct any further business this evening.
Arsenal's new striker hopes are fading fast.
20:52 - Daley Blind has been speaking very positively about Manchester United following his transfer from Ajax.
"It is a real honour to sign for Manchester United. I have been at Ajax since I was seven years old and I will always have very fond memories of the club and of my time there," he told the club's official website.
"Louis van Gaal is a tremendously talented coach, I have worked with him at Ajax and also for the Netherlands national team and I cannot wait to work with him at the biggest club in the world."
20:48 - Hull fans will surely be content with their club's deadline day business, but it seems that the Tigers may not be done just yet.
As well as reports suggesting that the club are trying to sign Newcastle outcast Hatem Ben Arfa, Steve Bruce is also said to be interested in a deal for Southampton midfielder Gaston Ramirez.
20:42 - Unsurprisingly there is more activity on the horizon at QPR, with Croatian playmaker Niko Kranjcar arriving at Loftus Road.
The former Tottenham man was on loan at the club last season and is presumably set for another spell away from Dynamo Kiev.
20:38 - Across at Manchester City, Swedish striker John Guidetti is said to be close to joining Scottish Premiership champions Celtic despite interest from Ajax and Feyenoord.
20:31 - Following Ajax's lead, Manchester United have now officially announced the capture of versatile Dutch international Daley Blind for a £14 million fee.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have reached an agreement with Crystal Palace for the sale of defender Zeki Fryers.
20:24 - Fabio Borini's switch to QPR looks to have fallen through with a little under three hours to go due to an apparent disagreement over personal terms.
The Italian was supposedly demanding £90,000-per-week to move to Loftus Road - a sum that Rangers clearly weren't willing to match.
20:18 - While we're on the subject of Manchester United youngsters, Tom Lawrence is believed to have agreed a deal to join Leicester.
We presume this is a loan, although if it is then that would throw a similar a move for Nick Powell into doubt.
20:11 - Having completed the loan signing of Chelsea's Nathaniel Chalobah earlier today, it appears that Burnley boss Sean Dyche is keen to snare another young player from one of the Premier League's top clubs.
Sky report that the Clarets are in talks to take Manchester United centre-back Michael Keane to Turf Moor. Whether or not that is a permanent deal is unclear at this stage, however.
19:59 - Jermain Defoe update: It looks as if the former England striker will not be returning to the Premier League after all.
The Toronto Sun now claim that he will return to Major League Soccer after the Canadians rejected several offers for his services.
19:55 - Some Arsenal transfer news for you now and Japanese midfielder Ryo Miyaichi has reportedly joined Dutch side FC Twente on a season-long loan deal.
19:48 - Drenthe obviously has no future at Reading, I'm just surprised Nicky Hammond and co managed to convinced someone to take him on given his track record and disruptive reputation.
I wouldn't imagine Sheffield Wednesday are picking up too large a percentage of his hefty wages, unfortunately, although I'm sure Nigel Adkins will be delighted to have him gone for the time being.
The fact that Drenthe was not given a squad number prior to the season and has not been recalled to the first-team setup in spite of Reading's injury woes is very telling.
19:47 - Hello again. Most loyal Royals are happy about Royston Drenthe's loan move to Sheffield Wednesday. What is your view on the subject? - Aidan
19:39 - Time to get moderately excited, Manchester United fans. Eredivisie champions Ajax appear to have confirmed - via their Twitter account - that Daley Blind's move is complete.
19:35 - Staying with Murray, the player's agent has now seemingly confirmed that the Crystal Palace frontman is at Reading for a medical.
Neil Warnock must be confident of signing at least one replacement, you would imagine, particularly with Marouane Chamakh having been ruled out of action for up to a month with a hamstring problem.
19:32 - Conflicting rumours on that particular deal, Aidan. Sky are reporting that a medical is indeed taking place, yet that news seems to have come as a shock to reliable Palace journalist Mark Ritson. Will keep you updated as one loyal Royal to another!
19:31 - Hello. Can you confirm that Crystal Palace's Glenn Murray has gone for a medical at Reading? - Aidan
19:30 - Nothing more to add other than what has already been said on that front, Gwayana. I would expect confirmation on Daley Blind and Radamel Falcao deals before 11pm.
19:27 - Give me news on Manchester United transfer deals - Gwayana Alfred Utha
19:23 - It looks likely to be a case of one in and one out for Crystal Palace, with Glenn Murray reported to be undergoing a medical at Reading.
19:18 - Two more confirmed deals to bring you now. Scottish midfielder James McArthur has joined Crystal Palace from Wigan Athletic for a fee believed to be in the region of a club-record £7 million.
Sunderland have also followed up the signing of Sebastian Coates with another loan deal, this time for Inter Milan's Ricky Alvarez.
19:13 - I trust all of you Arsenal fans out there remember Emmanuel Frimpong?
Well, having been released by Barnsley at the end of last season, the midfielder has now joined Russian Premier League newcomers FC Ufa.
Dench indeed.
19:09 - With Tottenham's deal for Benjamin Stambouli now signed, sealed and delivered, Sandro's proposed move to QPR looks to be gathering pace.
Harry Redknapp has reportedly told BBC Radio Five Live that the Brazilian is currently having a medical in West London.
19:02 - It's been a productive day thus far for Steve Bruce. Having completed the club-record signing of Abel Hernandez earlier on, Hull have now announced a deal to bring combative West Ham midfielder Mohamed Diame to the club.
The Senegalese international has signed a three-year deal at the KC Stadium.
18:58 - The Arturo Vidal trail seems to have gone cold for now, Prince. I think everyone would be majorly surprised if that were to come to fruition between now and 11pm.
Still awaiting official confirmation from Manchester United on deals for Radamel Falcao and Daley Blind.
18:54 - Hi, if I may ask. What's the story with Arturo Vidal and my Manchester United? - Prince Mthembu
He has joined the Black Cats for the entire 2014/15 campaign and becomes Gus Poyet's eighth summer signing.
Valentin Roberge, meanwhile, has departed the Stadium of Light to join Stade de Reims on a similar deal.
18:38 - Some more information on Radamel Falcao's move to Manchester United has been reported by the folks over at The Daily Telegraph.
If their information is accurate, then the Red Devils will be paying around £4 million to take the Colombian on loan and his staggering £346,000-per-week wages will covered by the Premier League giants in full.
Wowsers.
18:34 - The biggest breaking news of the last hour relates to one Danny Welbeck. Earlier speculation suggested that Tottenham were leading the chase for the Manchester United striker, but the most recent reports suggest that it is Arsenal that have agreed a £6 million loan deal for the England international, who is currently undergoing a medical.
What do you make of that one, Arsenal fans? Is Welbeck a suitable replacement for Olivier Giroud?
18:30 - Right, after a short break we are back in business. I trust everyone is feeling nice and refreshed, as there is a deluge of updates coming your way...
17:44 - Chelsea have finally announced Marco van Ginkel's move to AC Milan. The 21-year-old swaps Stamford Bridge for the San Siro on a season-long loan deal.
17:24 - Tottenham have confirmed their next summer signing, with Benjamin Stambouli arriving at White Hart Lane from Montpellier.
The defensive midfielder is 24 and has made over 100 appearances at Stade de la Mosson since 2010.
17:14 - Royston Drenthe - once of Real Madrid - has left Reading to join Sheffield Wednesday on loan until January, it has been confirmed.
The Dutchman has rarely featured for the Royals since signing last summer and was not handed a squad number at the Madejski Stadium prior to the start of the new campaign.
Meanwhile, Southampton look close to pulling off a double deal with Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Saido Mane and Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld believed to be undergoing medicals.
Swansea and Jose Canas have reached an agreement over the mutual termination of the Spaniard's contract, with Canas having now moved to Espanyol.
16:54 - Fulham could look to tie up several new signings over the next few hours, with reports suggesting that the recently-relegated club - who have endured a terrible start to the new Championship season under Felix Magath - are in for a number of players including Cardiff defender Mark Hudson, Leeds striker Matt Smith and Bolton's Jermaine Beckford.
Everton have been attempting to secure the signing of Anderlecht youngster David Henen for many weeks now, but Greek Superleague champions Olympiakos are now said to be keen on hijacking that deal.
Finally back to Manchester United. It has been reported in the last few minutes that Everton do still hold an interest in signing Tom Cleverley, but fear that they cannot afford him.
QPR - surprise surprise - may now be on his trail also.
16:49 - Leicester City may have entered the race for Jermain Defoe. QPR and Arsenal have both been linked with the wantaway Toronto forward today, but certain gossip is suggesting that the Foxes could be another suitor.
Meanwhile, Tottenham are believed to be in talks with Manchester United over Danny Welbeck. Goal's Wayne Veysey reports that Spurs are hopeful of successfully concluding a loan deal prior to tonight's deadline.
16:42 - With a bit of a lull in the action, why not send us your views on the day's events so far? What do you make of the Radamel Falcao deal? Are Manchester United wasting their money or will he be a perfect addition to Louis van Gaal's squad?
16:31 - A brief sojourn to the continent reveals that Alessio Cerci has signed a contract and completed his medical at Atletico Madrid ahead of a transfer from Serie A side Torino.
Cerci was linked rather heavily with Arsenal last week, but is is unclear if the Gunners ever made a serious play for his signature.
16:26 - Former West Brom midfielder Morgan Amalfitano looks set to return to the Premier League imminently, with the Frenchman having agreed a three-year deal to move to Upton Park following his departure from Marseille.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa's chances of landing Sergio Canales appear to have been dealt a crushing blow, with The Sun's Alan Nixon suggesting that the 23-year-old is reluctant to depart Real Sociedad.
16:17 - We all know that Neil Warnock loves collecting strikers, and that looks to be no different now he has returned to the Crystal Palace hotseat.
Leicester City man Chris Wood, Republic of Ireland international Kevin Doyle and Norwich's Gary Hooper have all been linked with moves to Selhurst Park today, with Glen Murray expected to join one of Championship trio Reading, Bolton or Ipswich.
16:09 - One of the most staggering rumours to have surfaced today related to the possibility of Manchester United flop Anderson joining Boyd and Chalobah at Burnley.
That particular line appears to be false, however, with The Daily Telegraph's northern football correspondent Mark Ogden confirming that the much-maligned Brazilian is not a target for Sean Dyche.
15:58 - Boyd's departure from the KC Stadium was obviously sanctioned with a new striker in mind, and Hull have indeed now announced the signing of Uruguayan international Abel Hernandez from Palermo.
At €12 million, it is a club-record deal for the Tigers.
15:48 - Nathaniel Chalobah's move from Chelsea to Burnley has now been sealed and confirmed. The former England U21 midfielder is the Clarets' second addition of the day, with George Boyd having completed a permanent switch from Hull this morning.
15:44 - As expected, QPR have apparently launched a bid of £10 million for Fabio Borini. The offer has been accepted by Liverpool, so the ball is now firmly in the player's court.
Oh 'Arry...
15:38 - Having suffered disappointment over Lassana Diarra, QPR's move for Sandro appears to be gathering pace with just over seven hours of the window remaining.
David Ornstein reports that Rangers have made an offer for the Brazilian midfielder, with just personal terms to be agreed and a medical to be undertaken before the deal can be completed.
15:30 - Agent Jorge Mendes has certainly been busy over the past couple of months, with several of his clients having secured big-money transfers.
Joao Moutinho - seemingly a perennial deadline day target for Tottenham - could be the next to join that stellar list, with the Portuguese international having been tentatively linked with Manchester United after apparently becoming unsettled at Monaco's sale of some of their other star names.
What do you make of that one, Red Devils fans?
15:19 - Fabio Borini has appeared a man in limbo in recent weeks. Having helped to keep Sunderland in the Premier League during a successful loan spell last season, many expected him to join the club on a full-time basis this summer after the Black Cats had a£14 million bid accepted by Liverpool.
A move to the Stadium of Light seems to have, stalled, however and the BBC's Ian Dennis reports that QPR have entered into initial discussions over a possible deal for the Italian.
15:13 - William Carvalho is a player that most expected to be mentioned today, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea all having been linked with his signature at one time or another.
Interestingly, Guardian reporter Ed Aarons has suggested that the former's move for Portugal's brightest young talent may not be dead and buried just yet...
15:08 - Understandably, Swansea appear keen to keep hold of Bony but Arsenal's need for a new striker capable of filling in for Olivier Giroud is painfully obvious.
It could be one to watch but seems very doubtful at this stage, Joseph.
15:03 - What are the chances of Bony to Arsenal? I feel like it would make sense, with Swansea already having signed his replacement in Gomis perhaps? Are Swansea strapped for cash at all? - Joseph Wilson
14:54 - Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert appears to be attempting to strengthen his midfield, with a bid for Real Sociedad playmaker Sergio Canales believed to have been submitted today.
Meanwhile, Jermain Defoe's rather extravagant £90,000-a-week wages are said to be proving a significant barrier to his potential return to the Premier League.
14:44 - Lassana Diarra will not be completing a return to the Premier League, it seems, with the former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder's move from Lokomotiv Moscow to QPR having now fallen through.
Elsewhere, Newcastle defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is set to move to Serie A after agreeing to a loan deal with Roma.
14:38 - Something intriguing for Manchester United fans now. The club - who are still yet to confirm their loan deal for Radamel Falcao - are believed to be targeting a deadline-day move for 15-year-old Norwegian starlet Martin Odegaard.
Norway's youngest ever international currently plays for Stromsgodset and has drawn early comparisons to the great Lionel Messi, no less.
14:31 - Much of the goings on at Manchester City today have surrounded the likes of Matija Nastasic and Alvaro Negredo, but what of Scott Sinclair I hear you cry?
Stoke City appear to have emerged as potential suitors for the 25-year-old, who has flopped badly since moving to the Etihad from Swansea.
14:24 - Southampton have confirmed reports that they have cancelled the loan of Inter Milan midfielder Saphir Taïder.
In a statement released on the club's official website, the Saints said that the Algerian had 'failed to live up to the high levels of commitment expected of Southampton players'
Ouch.
14:07 - A quick update on Victor Valdes' proposed move to Liverpool. All being well during negotiations, the Spaniard - who sustained a serious knee injury in March is expected to join the club next month.
13:56 - Chelsea are not expected to be particularly active in the coming hours, although rumours linking them with a surprise late swoop for Roma striker Mattia Destro refuse to die down.
With the Blues having added to their striking options only yesterday with the signing of Loic Remy, this one is surely just idle speculation.
13:51 - Any Arsenal move for Carlos Bacca now looks unlikely, with Sevilla chairman Jose Castro having been quick to reject transfer speculation regarding the Colombian.
"There aren't bids for Bacca and we are not going to listen them. His salary increase is an internal matter and we are not going to talk about it," he said.
13:46 - After losing the likes of Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Luke Shaw, Southampton have been insistent that Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez will not be allowed to leave St. Mary's during the current window.
Their resolve on the latter is reportedly being severely tested, however, with Tottenham - now managed by former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino, of course - said to have had a bid for the injured striker rejected.
13:42 - Chelsea will allow Marco van Ginkel to follow Fernando Torres to Serie A, with the Dutch starlet having completed a loan switch to AC Milan.
The deal is yet to be officially confirmed by the Blues, but Van Ginkel himself seems to have lifted the lid with recent quotes to the Rossoneri's website.
"A lot of Dutch players have played in this great club, big names. I’m just happy to be finally here. I spoke to [Milan’s Dutch international] Nigel de Jong and he told me very good things about this club," he said.
13:32 - One interesting item of Manchester United transfer news that appears to have been largely overlooked relates to an attempt to sign a new goalkeeper.
With Anders Lindegaard having been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, it has been reported that the Red Devils attempted - and failed - to hijack Feyenoord's bid for Kenneth Vermeer.
13:23 - Matija Nastasic is a man in considerable demand, isn't he? Newcastle and Ligue 1 outfit Marseille are now said to have joined Arsenal and Tottenham in the chase for his signature.
13:17 - Javier Hernandez's Manchester United exit looks to be done and dusted. The Mexican striker has joined Real Madrid on a season-long loan deal that is also said to include the option to make things permanent next summer.
13:09 - IT'S THE BIG ONE YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!
Swansea have confirmed the signing of Modou Barrow from Swedish side Östersunds FK on a performance-related contract for an undisclosed fee.
What?
12:57 - Chelsea midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah has spent time on loan at Championship level with Watford, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough over recent seasons but now looks as if he is set to be given a chance to thrive in the Premier League.
Burnley - who have already pulled of one deal today in the shape of George Boyd - are expected to sign him on loan.
12:51 - Kyle Naughton is yet another Tottenham squad player linked with an exit today. Premier League rivals and joint leaders Swansea are believed to be keen on taking him to the Liberty Stadium.
12:45 - In what would be a slightly surprising turn of events, Petr Cech has supposedly been offered by Chelsea to West London rivals QPR.
Whether Harry Redknapp will pursue this any further remains to be seen, although it would surely come as a shock given that Alex McCarthy only joined from Reading three days ago.
12:39 - More Arsenal striker news, and it has emerged that Toronto's Jermain Defoe has indeed been offered to the club as a short-term option.
The 31-year-old was a Gunners supporter in his youth, could Wenger be tempted to take him?
12:24 - Southampton have continued to impress so far this season, with the club appearing to show little signs of a prolonged hangover following the departure of several key players.
New manager Ronald Koeman has been keen to add to the group at St. Mary's and is expected to add one more player on loan before the window closes.
No, it's not Andros Townsend, but Sporting Lisbon wideman Diego Capel.
12:15 - While rumoured exits for Sandro and Aaron Lennon are far from confirmed, Lewis Holtby's proposed departure from Tottenham looks far more likely.
With the German international still struggling to make the desired impact at White Hart Lane, it has been claimed that he is set to undergo a medical with Bundesliga outfit Hamburg.
12:06 - Arturo Vidal is a name that has rarely been out of the transfer headlines throughout this particular window, but it looks like Juventus are set to win the race to retain their most-prized asset.
It has been suggested in Italy that Manchester United were unsuccessful in a final £30 million bid for the Chilean towards the end of last week and any more developments now seem very unlikely.
11:59 - It just would not be transfer deadline day without some sort of involvement from Harry Redknapp and his infamous car window, would it?
The latest from Loftus Road suggests that QPR are keen to re-unite Redknapp with two of his former players in Sandro and Aaron Lennon.
Premier League rules stipulate that a club cannot loan more than one player from a top-flight rival, however, so if Rangers are looking to sign both players from Tottenham then one will need to be a permanent deal.
11:52 - Back to Liverpool now, and Brendan Rodgers appears to be eager to provide competition for first-choice goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.
Having missed out to QPR on a deal for Alex McCarthy on Friday, reports suggest that the club are in talks to bring former Barcelona stalwart Victor Valdes to Anfield.
That deal does not have to be completed by tonight's deadline, of course, with the Spaniard currently a free agent following his departure from the Catalan giants earlier this summer.
11:47 - Arsenal supporters are craving a striker, yet extra defensive cover looks to be top of Arsene Wenger's to-do-list.
As well as submitting an enquiry for Matija Nastasic, the Gunners are also said to be hot on the trail of Ron Vlaar and West Ham centre-back Winston Reid.
11:41 - Luis Suarez has been spotted back at Liverpool today, with captain Steven Gerrard posting a picture of the two former teammates together at Melwood on his Instagram account.
Before you get excited though Reds fans, the controversial frontman is not on his way back to the club, but merely seems to be preparing to move his possessions over to the Camp Nou.
11:39 - With a little over 11 hours of deadline day remaining, we would love to hear your thoughts on the business done so far. Details of how to contact us are above, don't be shy now!
11:30 - Moving away from the top six for just a second, Burnley have strengthened their squad with the signing of George Boyd from Hull City for an undisclosed fee.
Boyd made the headlines on deadline day last January after an inconclusive eye test strangely scuppered a proposed move to Nottingham Forest, but it seems that there have been no such issues at Turf Moor.
11:24 - As well as losing a defender, Arsene Wenger could also see another striker depart with slightly surprising claims that Joel Campbell has requested to leave the Emirates Stadium.
Costa Rican international Campbell has yet to make his mark in North London after joining the Gunners from Primera División side Saprissa in 2011, yet flourished during a loan spell with Olympiakos last season and also drew plaudits for his impressive displays at the World Cup.
Benfica are said to be the most interested party, with Campbell presumably eager to secure regular first-team football.
11:21 - Arsenal are set to become one defender lighter in the coming hours, with Spanish U21 centre-back Ignasi Miquel set to drop down to the Championship having successfully completed a medical at recently-relegated Norwich.
11:17 - As previously mentioned, there is certainly no shortage of suitors for Danny Welbeck and many are expecting him to leave the Red Devils before the close of play.
While Arsenal and Sunderland have been credited with an interest, it is now believed that Tottenham are the favourites to take him on loan.
11:12 - Arsenal potentially swooping for Marco Reus to cover the gap in their forward options is another intriguing rumour currently in circulation, while the Italian media seem confident that Manchester United's protracted pursuit of Juventus enforcer Arturo Vidal has not yet bitten the dust.
11:05 - Tom Cleverley is another fringe player widely expected to leave Manchester United today. The latest speculation suggests that Everton could still be a realistic option for him, while rival reports have claimed that the player is seeking a £1 million pay-off to finally call time on his Old Trafford career.
10:56 - Liverpool have been very active during the transfer window to date, with the likes of Mario Balotelli, Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana and Alberto Moreno joining the ranks at Anfield.
One player likely to be on his way out of Merseyside, however, is defender Sebastian Coates. The Uruguayan does not appear to be part of Brendan Rodgers' first-team plans this season, and it is expected that he will undergo a medical this morning ahead of a temporary switch to Sunderland.
10:40 - Chelsea are unlikely to add any further to their squad today following their capture of Loic Remy, yet there could be some movement on outgoings at Stamford Bridge.
It has been reported that Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah - who joined the Blues from FC Basel in January - could make the short trip to Crystal Palace on a loan deal.
Speaking of loans, Leicester are believed to be keen on a move for Manchester United playmaker Nick Powell.
10:28 - So what now for Arsenal? Arsene Wenger admitted following yesterday's 1-1 draw with newly-promoted Leicester City that the club were looking to add a new striker in light of Olivier Giroud's injury, with a certain Falcao believed to be high on the agenda.
With the Colombian seemingly heading to Old Trafford, the Gunners - who started with the ineffective Yaya Sanogo up front at the King Power - are now said to be on the hunt for compatriot and Sevilla frontman Carlos Bacca.
10:11 - This Radamel Falcao to Manchester United story is progressing at a rate of knots. Reports from Spain had suggested he was heading to Manchester United, and several reputable British print journalists have now moved to confirm that a loan agreement has been reached with Monaco, with personal terms still to be sorted out and a medical yet to be completed.
10:04 - Manchester City's apparent failure to sign Radamel Falcao does not look to be having any knock-on effect on the future of Alvaro Negredo.
The Spaniard - who is behind the trio of Sergio Aguero, Stevan Jovetic and Edin Dzeko in Manuel Pellegrini's pecking order - could be set to join Valencia today, regardless of whether or not a replacement can be found.
09:54 - Staying at Old Trafford for a moment, Danny Welbeck is one of several Manchester United players who could be set to depart the 20-time top-flight champions today.
A loan switch looks the most likely arrangement, although any club looking to complete such a deal will have to produce around £5 million to make it happen.
09:50 - Radamel Falcao to Manchester United is a deal that has already been completed, according to reports from the continent.
With Louis van Gaal already able to call upon the likes of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, is this the best use of funds by the Red Devils given their notable struggles in midfield and in the heart of defence?
09:45 - Micah Richards is not the only Manchester City defender who could be on his way out of the Etihad before the deadline.
Matija Nastastic - who has not played since the club's heavy Community Shield defeat to Arsenal at Wembley earlier this month - is attracting attention from Arsenal and Tottenham, with both said to have launched tentative enquiries with regards to his potential availability.
09:40 - Javier Hernandez's loan move to Real Madrid has yet to be officially confirmed by either club, but the player's international boss - Mexico's Miguel Herrera - appears to have let the cat out of the bag with a tweet congratulating the 26-year-old earlier this morning.
Is a switch to the Bernabeu really in the best interests of Hernandez, who looked increasingly frustrated with his 'substitute' tag at Old Trafford?
09:35 - New Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock looks set to be a busy man today. Having been appointed as Tony Pulis' permanent successor last week, the former QPR and Sheffield United boss is wasting no time in improving his options at Selhurst Park.
A loan deal for Tottenham defender Zeki Fryers looks to be nearing completion, while the Eagles are also said to have agreed a £7 million fee with Championship outfit Wigan Athletic for the services of midfielder James McArthur.
09:31 - Speaking of centre-backs, Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar - aka Concrete Ron - has been at the heart of a wealth of transfer speculation already this summer, with Manchester United among the clubs who have been linked with the Dutch defender.
However, any deadline day transfer now looks unlikely, with the player's agent having dismissed suggestions that he could leave Villa Park before the window slams shut.
09:27 - One move that definitely does not look likely to come to fruition is Ryan Shawcross to Everton. Social media was abuzz yesterday evening with rumours that the Stoke defender was set to swap the Britannia Stadium for Goodison Park in an £8 million deal, yet that has been widely panned in the last few minutes.
09:22 - Another interesting rumour doing the rounds early on relates to the future of Jermain Defoe. The former Tottenham frontman has been plying his trade for Toronto FC in Major League Soccer since March, yet doubts regarding his future appear to have emerged following the sacking of manager Ryan Nelsen yesterday.
With Arsenal in desperate need of another striker, could they put aside his links with rivals Spurs to make a deal happen? Or is he more likely to link-up with Harry Redknapp once again at QPR? We all know how much old 'Arry loves a deadline day deal...
09:17 - It looks like there could be some early movement on outgoings at Manchester City. Micah Richards has barely featured for the club under Manuel Pellegrini in recent months, and it has been suggested that he is set to join Serie A outfit Fiorentina on a season-long loan deal.
Viola will have the option to sign the former England right-back permanently if his temporary spell at Stadio Artemio Franchi proves to be a success.
09:12 - Radamel Falcao is the name on everybody's lips this morning, with the Colombian international believed to be available. Arsenal, Manchester City and, incredibly, Manchester United are said to be on his trail, but will any of those sides be willing to pay the money necessary to tempt Monaco into sanctioning a move?
The 28-year-old was believed to be close to securing a switch to Real Madrid on Saturday, although the La Liga giants look as if they are now focusing their attentions on a loan move for Javier Hernandez.
