De Gea still waiting. (©GettyImages). Manchester United have yet to make a formal contract offer to David de Gea despite the Spanish goalkeeper being in the penultimate season of the five-year deal he signed following his arrival from Atletico Madrid.
This news comes from Sunday Times journalist Duncan Castles, who claims that the change in manager at Manchester United, with Louis van Gaal replacing David Moyes, postponed talks with De Gea regarding a renewal.

Improved deal
Manchester United had initially discussed an improved contract with De Gea and his representatives last season, but these negotiations were placed on the back-burner as the club put their efforts into concluding a deal for Van Gaal.
It is expected that the club will resume talks with their No.1 ‘keeper, who has been in particularly fine form of late, although the failure to formalise an offer could mean De Gea fields interest from elsewhere, with Real Madrid long-term admirers.
Current position
De Gea earns £52,000-per-week, the basic salary he agreed when he arrived at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson in 2011, but can expected and request a significant rise were he to commit to, as is still likely, a new contract.
Manchester United have spent significantly on wages and transfer fees under Ed Woodward, and De Gea will have taken note. His importance to the team would also place the 23-year-old in a strong bargaining position.
