Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed contracts talks with Mesut Ozil are ‘moving along’ – although a deal is yet to be finalised.
The Germany international, who has scored six goals in 14 appearances so far this season, is currently tied down to the Gunners until 2018.
Wenger congratulates Ozil on his Ballon d’Or nomination, but there’s a problem… The club __have been desperate to secure Ozil’s services on a longer deal and it is said Arsenal will offer the playmaker a £200,000-a-week contract.
Ozil’s future has been a constant talking point this year and when asked about the current situation, Wenger suggested a deal was edging closer to completion.
‘There is nothing really concrete enough to talk about,’ Wenger, 67, said. ‘It is moving along.’
Wenger was speaking ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Sunderland on Saturday – the Gunners could move top with a victory over David Moyes’ struggling Black Cats.
