Chesterfield striker Ched Evans is dreaming of a recall to the Wales national team after being found not guilty of rape in a retrial.
The 27-year-old striker, who was accused and previously convicted of raping a teenager in 2011, spent two and a half years in prison and saw his career left in disgrace.
Evans admitted to having sex with the teenager in a hotel in Rhyl, Wales but insisted it had been consensual and he had maintained his innocence from the outset.
Revealed: Why Liverpool legend Xabi Alonso thinks Jordan Henderson is the 'complete player' Having been cleared of any wrongdoing this week after his original verdict was quashed, the former Sheffield United forward has revealed his ambitions of earning a recall to Chris Coleman’s Wales squad.
‘Maybe in the future, depending on how many performances and goals I can score, maybe I can get back in,’ Evans told the Mail on Sunday.
‘I think it will be a case of just letting the football do the talking and seeing where that takes me,’ Evans added.
Evans, who has 13 Welsh caps to his name, called on football governing bodies to provide more education to players in an attempt to avoid his mistakes being seen again.
‘I was young at the time and I was stupid and I wasn’t aware of the situations you could potentially find yourself in that would land you in trouble,’ he added.
‘I __have never been taught about anything like that. You get your gambling and drinking training but nothing else on top of that. In this day and age people need educating on alcohol and consent.
‘I read somewhere you would __have to get signed consent. That wouldn’t be realistic but someone needs to come up with something. The best thing is just to be educated. And when they are drunk to think twice about it. How would it look in a court of law?’
