Tottenham Hotspur’s return to the Champions League has ended in disastrous fashion as the crashed out of the group stages, with a game left to play.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side needed at least a draw to keep their faint hopes of qualification to the last-16 alive, and in reality they needed a win.
Confirmed: The teams in the last-16 of the Champions League so far as Leicester join Arsenal A 2-1 defeat to Monaco ended all hopes of them going through and they will now play off against CSKA Moscow to see if they will participate in the Europa League.
Goals from Djibril Sidibe and Thomas Lemar downed Tottenham, whose goal came through Harry Kane.

After losing to Bayer Leverkusen earlier in the group stages, the 2-1 defeat ensured Spurs could not pass the Bundesliga side due to their worse head-to-head record.
And, of course, Arsenal fans swarmed all over Twitter to rejoice their early exit.
