Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been stealing a living at the Emirates Stadium since his side won the Premier League title unbeaten in 2004, according to Robbie Savage.

The French tactician has been in charge of the Gunners for over 20 years, but the second half of his reign has been significantly less successful than the first.

Wenger’s future is now in doubt as he is yet to sign a new contract, with his current deal set to expire at the end of this season and a growing number of fans calling for his head.

Savage feels it is time for the 67-year-old to go, with Arsenal’s recent humiliation at the hands of Bayern Munich showing how far they’ve fallen in recent years.

‘What does it say about Arsenal that they lost 10-2 on aggregate to Bayern Munich where Barcelona somehow turned it round against Paris St Germain to win 6-5?’ Savage wrote in the Daily Mirror.

‘To me, it suggests something needs to change at the Emirates – unless the board are happy with a top-four finish and Champions League group phase football every year.

‘I read an estimate somewhere that Arsene Wenger has earned nearly £100 million since Arsenal last won the title, and that’s a big price to pay for going from Invincibles to also-rans.’
