Mahendra Dohni is set to lose 60% of this match fee (©GettyImages). After being well and truly beaten by England, India have been fined for a slow over-rate during their humbling fifth-Test defeat by at The Oval.
India, who didn't contest the ruling by the International Cricket Council (ICC), lost the Test by an innings and 244 runs, and went on to lose the series 3-1.
In a statement, the ICC said: "Mahendra Singh Dhoni's side were ruled to be three overs short of its target at the end of the match when time allowances were taken into consideration."
Match fee fine
For each over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, each player is fined 10 percent of their match fee, with that being doubled for the captain.
Therefore, as a result of the ruling, Indian captain Mahendra Dohni will be fined 60 percent of his match fee, while the rest of the team will be fined 30 percent.
Repeat offender
This is not the first time that Dhoni has landed himself in hot water for over-rate breaches in the past. In 2012, as part of a tour of Australia, he was suspended from taking part in the fourth Test in Adelaide, due to a slow over-rate in the previous match.
He also had similar disciplinary proceedings after the Cape Town Test against South Africa in 2011.
The ICC has also ruled that there will be a one match ban introduced if there is a repeat of such instances again in the next 12 months.
