Mesut Ozil mocked by Radamel Falcao on Twitter

Manchester United’s clash against Arsenal on November 22 could have an extra edge after it was revealed that Radamel Falcao posted a tweet three years ago comparing Mesut Ozil to a character from The Simpsons.

Falcao’s tweet, which was posted on 14 March 2011 and now has almost 10,000 retweets, simply says: "Ozil has eyes like The Simpsons."

How will Ozil react?

Ozil’s eyes are certainly a prominent feature, but it’s unlikely that the German World Cup winner will take too kindly to the Colombia internationals assessment of his looks if he was unaware of the tweet beforehand.

Falcao and Ozil have lined up against each other since the South American initially posted the tweet - and there has been no bad blood between the two players in the past.

Gonzalo Galvan

Ozil’s likeness to a Simpsons’ character is not as uncanny as the likeness between the Arsenal playmaker and Argentine teenager, Gonzalo Galvan, who hit the headlines last year for his incredible resemblance to the former Real Madrid star.

As quoted by the Mirror, 13-year-old Gonzalo says he has looked like Ozil since he was born. We’ll let you judge whether that’s a blessing or a curse.

Falcao is no stranger to voicing his opinions on Twitter, having hit out at a referee when Colombia were eliminated from this summer’s World Cup finals.

The Manchester United striker, on loan from AS Monaco for the season and reportedly earning £350,000-a-week, was not involved in the match because of a knee injury - but took to Twitter to say: "For the next game remember to call the ref because today he didn’t come."
