Tony Bellew does not believe Conor McGregor could cut it at European level in boxing, let alone beat former unified welterweight world champion Floyd Mayweather.
Haye vs Bellew Big Fight Preview: A true grudge match between two volatile fighersBut that does not mean the WBC cruiserweight champion would not be interested in a mega-fight with the Irishman at Croke Park.
McGregor has insisted his next fight will be against Mayweather in a boxing match and Bellew says he would be happy to face the UFC star in Dublin.
‘If he’s weighing 155 and I’m at 200 pound, you are right I am going to fight him,’ Bellew told Soccer AM.
‘I’ll take his head off.’
Joking aside, Bellew assured fight fans that a bout between McGregor and Mayweather would not last beyond four rounds.
McGregor believes he can transfer his impressive stand up game in the octagon into the ring, but Bellew insists that is impossible.
‘Two totally different sports,’ he said.
‘If Floyd was to get in a cage with Conor he’d get torn to pieces, he’d literally tear Floyd’s arm off.
‘But if Conor was to get into a boxing ring and abide by boxing rules he’d get absolutely embarrassed within three or four rounds.

‘The gulf in class, Conor has a good stand up game for a UFC fighter, but he has an abysmal boxing game compared to other boxers.
‘I don’t even think he’d be British champion or European champion, but you put him in a cage he’s an animal.
‘Pulling arms and legs off, he’s that good.’
