Wayne Rooney and Henrikh Mkhitaryan ‘not travelling with Man United squad’ for Chelsea clash

Wayne Rooney and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were not in the Manchester United squad travelling to London for their clash with Chelsea, reports __have claimed.

Jose Mourinho’s side face the Blues on Sunday afternoon, the Portuguese manager’s first return to his former club since taking the reigns at Old Trafford.

United and England captain Rooney, who has faced criticism over his patchy form this season, made his first start in almost a month in United’s 4-1 Europa League victory over Fenerbache on Thursday.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, the 30-year-old was not one of the players boarding the train south at Stockport ahead of the fixture.

Mkhitaryan, who expressed his confusion and disappointment after being left out of the squad in midweek, was reportedly another notable absentee.
