Patrice Evra has revealed how close he came to returning to Manchester United, admitting he held talks with Jose Mourinho during the January transfer window.
The Frenchman was believed to be a target for Mourinho, who was tempted to sign Evra from Juventus as he thought his experience would help at Old Trafford.

The 35-year-old insists a return to the Theatre of Dreams was on the cards, but suggests an unnamed figure blocked the return.
‘I was very close to a return to Manchester United,’ Evra, who won five Premier League titles and the Champions League with the Red Devils, told Sky Italia.
‘I also spoke with Mourinho but there was a person, whose name I will not say, who probably did not like the idea of my return.
‘Even the fans were enthusiastic and would __have been delighted, but because I realised that they [the club] would not do anything I then asked my agent to look for other teams.
‘Marseille immediately won me over with their project and immediately created a great feeling.
